Looking at picking up a early 70s that needs TLC. Owner doesnt know if its a 100 or 125cc. I think they are pretty cool. Ebay has them going for a decent amount so maybe I will flip it.
Im sure 100-125cc could move a 180lb guy just fine.

Not to pick on you @rugsr but I don’t think you’re ready to handle a bike especially an older one that needs “TLC” just cough up the coin and buy a newer bike that doesn’t need much maint. Seriously you’ll save yourself the headaches along with the million PM’s to others for help.
I like getting my hands dirty and knowing “its mine”. 90% of the turbo setup on my GSR was done by me, 10% by others. Took me a winter, but the feeling of doing it myself is better then paying for someone to do it (you know that).
Honestly Id rather wrench then ride. Even if it takes me twice as long.
No one has to answer any PMs if they dont want to.
@rugsr… don’t listen to this greasy cat. I say take on anything you feel comfortable with, and learn as you go. I certainly learned a hell of a lot about old Honda’s when working on my CB, which was my first ever bike older than a 2001. It was an interesting road, I leaned heavily on forum members at times, @checko, @focusinprogress, but overall, I am happy with the work I put in and the end result of my first ever garage built cafe POS. It has certainly fueled my desire (read:addiction) to pick up another project and take what i’ve learned already to make the other one even better. Just dont be like @motocrossw98357y23984 or whatever and give up.
Riding >
Just make sure you have something done by Spring (if it ever comes) to ride.
Thanks maxwell
For the record I rather be a greasy lion @maxwell.
haha, meooow…
oh yeah… bikikkles… someone just buy me this modern equivalent and i’d be content. Can we start a go-fund me?

@maxwell the day you buy a “modern bike” is the day Nick buys a brand new bike…which will never happen lol.
Gimmie:
Sold the KZ and currently own the CB
Honestly I havent touched it =(
Ive been getting the house ready for a baby / a sale etc. Once spring “hits” id like to get a move on.
CB what? Post pics. What does it need? Plans?
1978 CB550 “K4” <<< I believe.
Owner got it to turn over prior to buying it but it didnt stay running. Im sure the carbs need an overhaul which they will see, as well as new plugs etc etc. The first thing I want to do is to get it running steady before taking it all apart. I want to clean the frame up (strip and new paint), get rid of anything thats not needed and keep the bike simple.
Ive beek looking and getting ideas for a while and I know my bike is far from complete…far
But something like this would tickle my fancy
^That exhaust is ugly.
Is your bike purple? There was a pretty cheap CB550 in Buffalo Nick and I went to go check out about a month or so ago.
Yea I dont care for the exhaust.
No, I drove to rochester for this one. Had a blue tank.
Those two honda cb400 hawks are sold btw if anyone was interested =/
Buy a Carpy exhaust for it, you won’t be disappointed, I loved mine.
Your welcome for the help buddy! Wish we all coulda got out for a ride before you left!
also… +1 don’t be a chrisderek lol
Thag exhaust was super nice! Too bad you sold the bike you chooch!
Nothing wrong with wanting to learn. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I have been wrenching on bikes for 25 years. I learned by diving in and turning bolts. There was no internet back then so the only way to get info was to beg at a dealership or find someone that knew something. I learned a lot of what I know through trial and error, lots of costly errors! I will say that I have no regrets and the last 25 years have been one hell of a ride!
Good stuff
Any old video of this?
I think he might. Just YouTube cb550 carpy exhaust…
Fffffuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Someone just buy the pile of parts so I can get rid of it.
