If this goes to anyone I think it should be Nick considering he did a TON of work on it…
I like
Carpy
Wow thats nice
Carpy
Not bad
Motogpwerks
If you go with it make sure you get it coated. I sprayed mine with extreme high temp clear coat but it was eventually burning off even though I put like 8 heavy coats on.
If you order it, go through Carpy himself at:
Sent me free t-shirts, posters and even exhaust gaskets! Great customer service, can’t say enough nice things about him. He sent me free gaskets which were the wrong size on accident then sent me the correct ones again for free. Cool dude
Well I’m not giving it away, but yeah, Nick would be the first person to have any say in taking it.
So much is going on between work and home right now that I honestly would rather just get rid of it and be done with it.
Heard someone just picked up a donor bike in Rochester, cough cough.
Is it British?
Sure is.
Oh damn, I have little self control when it comes to Brit bikes. I must go hide now…
so last week my springer left me stranded after work at 3am with a dead battery (which luckily i was able to jump start it to get home)
well obviously i figured since it was the battery that came with the bike it was prob old so time for a new one.
it was a cheapo wal-mart “ever-start” battery in there, so what the hell ill just go grab another one of those, right?.
well after a day or two the hard starting returned and checking the battery with my multimeter while under load from the starter i was dropping to 7.4v ON A NEW BATTERY.
well needless to say it was unacceptable, even though not under load it was reading 12.7v i returned it back to the mart and decided to just bite the bullet and bend over to pick up a battery right from harley.
before i did that though i wanted to make sure my charging system was ok and as you can prob already guess, it wasnt.
stater checked out fine.
it was producing approx 20v AC for every 1k rpm the bike was running.
it was also not grounding itself out so the only other thing it could be is the voltage regulator.
checked the battery with the bike running and only getting 12.7v at most regardless if idle or revved up.
well after a quick trip to the dealer before work today i was able to get a new battery and voltage regulator and even earned 280 southwest miles :bloated:
bike now starts perfect and is getting 13.2v at the battery while running at idle and goes up to 14.2v while being revved.
charging system is back in order.
im obviously not stoked to have to drop $280 that i wasnt planning on but at least i know its done and im just thankful it wasnt a bad stator
Was it that blue bike with the torn seat?!
Naw just a Triumph doner for @turbociv
I know some of you guys can work on these bikes in your sleep, but being that I’m starting out I plan on buying a book
anyone have experience with one if these?
This goes to 1977 but mines a 78. They didn’t change much from 77 to 78 did they?
I have the Clymer book for Honda and I found it pretty helpful.
Clymer is better than Haynes in my opinion. If you look around the web you can often times find the manuals available to download for free. This is especially true of manuals for older bikes that are out of print.

This should hook you up.
Got me a rare trumpet that was produced only 1 year! however I wouldn’t call it vintage being 2005 Daytona 650, and rare doesn’t necessarily mean desirable either. lol but I like it.
that awkward year of the i-4
@rugsr, just download a clymer and print it out. Super helpful.
