Why Cant i get a Game controller to work on my laptop?

my friend at work gave me thousands of nintendo games on a cd, and since i grew up with nintendo, would love to play them again. i downloaded emulators, tried two controllers, did everything it asked me to, but i cant get it to work.

heres what i’ve done.

downloaded 3 diff emulators to see if that was the problem, all three play the games, but refuse to recognize the controller.

went through the settings in the control panel, thinking the computer wasnt seeing the controller, but it works perfectly in the “test area”

long story short, the computer sees the controller, the emulator is set to use the controller, but it doesnt work.

i even bought a second controller, still nothing.

am i missing something?

btw computer is a dell latitude 610 or something.
controllers are both from walmart, and both work fine with the computer

ps, im a computer tard, someone help me, i just want to play nintendo

Go buy the ps2 adapter from radioshack…I refuse to use anything else and its perfect for any console emulator.

As for your problem it sounds like a driver problem. Your comp is seeing the controllers but the emulators aren’t. The ps2 adaptor came with a cd that installs the drivers that allow it to work with emulators. Let me know…

word. i’ll try that today, thanks.

If you got vista use a 360 controller. I play perfect dark with dual analog and boy is it kickass.

I have a playstation 2 > usb connector called a Smart Joy.

I don’t use it any more if you want it you can have it.
