Why I won't ever be going back to suburban auto electric...

nice, i will fill this out now… seems fair enough to me.

where is this place anyway? so i can tell all my friends not to go there.

 where is Pauly

why, does he work there? if so, that’s awesome.

that place is right around the corner from me, i took my wheels where one year to have tires mounted and switched over from my old rims and it not only took them 2 days to do it but when i went to pick up my old rims they were gouged like crazy, i have no idea what they did but they really messed them up

from his posts, and fry’s cough, I think he works for the DMV

@ DMV

nice. all though it would be much juicier if he worked at suburban…

anyway, filing it out now, hopefully ramon will as well since he also had issues recently… or hopefully anyone else that had problems (according to the form it can only be done 90 days from the time of repair or 3,000 miles).

He deals with those claims filed against shops via the DMV.

horseshit.

I’ve told many people to go there too, from experiences from like 4 or 5 years ago. I may have even told Jim to go there, can’t remember.

sorry guys

Lets just burn the place down.
Last time I had a complaint with a shop the guy grabbed a wrench like he was going to hit me. He was old and I could not for the life of me figure out why he was so upset. :frowning:

Description of complaint:
After the vehicle alignment was performed I drove the car to work the following day and noticed my drivers side front wheel was wobbling, upon arriving to work I check and all 5 lug nuts on the wheel were loose (could be moved by hand easily). After that I tightened down the lug nuts and chalked it up as a simple mistake. However a week later I had noticed clunking coming from the passenger side front suspension, since the car was new I was hoping that it was just new parts breaking in. The noise had gotten worse so I removed the passenger front wheel and checked my suspension components and found the two bolts at the bottom of the strut, connecting to the hub were not tightened on, the top bolt was missing the connecting nut completely and the bottom was at the end of the threads allowing the bolt to jiggle back and forth. These two bolts are the bolts used to adjust the camber of the wheel which was done during the wheel alignment. I called the shop and explained what had happened and that luckily the bolts had not completely worked their way out (which would have disconnected the hub from my strut and collapsed the wheel down causing who only knows physical damage to the car, but possibly causing a vehicle spin/crash). I told them that the vehicle would need to be realigned since these bolts had to be reinserted and tightened down, and that I did not feel comfortable allowing them to work on my vehicle again and I simply wanted a refund for the services due to their negligence. They refused to take any responsibility for this, refused to even evaluate the vehicle in any way. After speaking with others that have used the same shop I have heard similar stories (some recently, that say they will also file DMV complaints), so I feel that something is going on at this shop that is a serious safety risk to any of their customers and they clearly do not care about it at all.

Resolution requested:
I have since fixed the safety hazard, and will be getting my car realigned elsewhere, however due to this being a trend with this registered repair shop it seems to be a hazard worth investigating.

:picard:

you did, however when i started going there they did good work… i have probably had them align my cars a few times a year since. it just started getting shoddy last year.

I’m lurking LOL
yes i work for DMV (vehicle safety, not registration bureau) its not like a secret LOL
I investigate claims such as this. We have charges that we use against shops such as “failure to provide quality repairs” that might apply here. Problem is it appears as though there has been a significant time lapse since the repair was performed. In order for us to be successful we would have to prove in court that it occcured during this repair. With that much time (i Think i might have missed it) it might not be possible to prove it. Generally we only take complaints that are within 90 days/3000 miles. You are welcome to file a complaint you can call it in @ (518)474-8943

oh i see now that it was only a week. That certainly has an effect.

the alignment was done 3/16/2009, there has only been 600 miles or so put on it since… i just filled out the paperwork and will mail it in tomorrow, need to get the receipt and also going to send in the photo for what it’s worth. i thought it was less than a month ago, time flies now a days apparently…

edit: i’d like to note i feel like a fucking senior citizen filing a complaint, but they clearly just don’t give a fuck at all.

ef em… stick it to em… poor business practices…

Just think about what could have happened cruising around with your kid and you’ll get over feeling like an old man filing the complaint. Their gross negligence is going to get someone seriously hurt or killed.

Tell them you’re filing a complaint with the DMV unless they refund your money, then file it anyway.

true dat!
even if dmv investigates this is pretty much what will happen anyway, but will take 60-90 days before it happens. There will prolly be a violation issued to their record, but (and you are not going to want to hear this) were not gonna try to revoke his license over this. Sorry to be blunt but it did not cause an accident or cause injury. Yes i know it could have, but the fact is it didnt. It was a dumb ass mistake by one of his employee’s. You are due to be made whole.

I came in here yesterday or the day before, read the OP, and almost knew that the shop would admit their fuckup, refund, fix it, yadda yadda.

What a schmucky place, you have to be kidding me…

i honestly didn’t think much would come of it, getting shut down for a day to investigate would maybe be a nice wake up call before they kill someone… i don’t even care about the $85, i more care about the fact they didn’t seem to care what-so-ever what they had done. in fact in the requested action i said i don’t want a refund i just want them to be on notice or something.
