why is my FiOS running 1 URL slow as balls?

since you’re only talking about 6 computers I see no reason why the verizon router wouldn’t be able to handle it. Additionally since you have no reason for messing around with NAT (since you’re not hosting anything, all you need these computers to do is get to the internet, right?), you’re also not running a VPN or anything that requires a more featured router… so there is no reason to go through whatever hassle you’re trying to do. Just get a switch, they are cheaper AND will function better. Those cheaper linksys routers will get overworked daily and will need to be restarted, a $50 switch will not.

I mean do whatever you want but you guys are making this much harder than it needs to be.

like I said buy a switch…

I have seen a number of setups with that same actiontec router with 10+ PCs behind it with no issues…

16port switch so you have room to grow…$60

well we have a linksys here to use, the computers just need access to ebay. trust me, im not trying to make this hard lol i just want to get them running so i can get back to work.

then definitely disable all routing capacity on the linksys and use the verizon router, but the better idea is to get a regular switch instead of using the linksys router as a switch.

bobby do have any experience working with computers in a business environment?

yes LZ i do, but not with the verizon Actiontec router. they dont seem to be compatible with each other. I guess we will just have to wait and get the switch to hook it up.

i was just trying to help josh out by getting it up and running, cut me some slack, im not an IT guy alright.

Till you do it the right way and get a switch…

Disable DHCP/Routing on the LinkSys
Go from a LAN port on the Actiontec to a LAN port on the Linksys

Now you will 3 LAN ports left on the actiontec and 3 left on the linksys…

The actiontec will do DHCP for the network and the linksys will act like a switch…

The other way would be…change the LAN side on the linksys to something other then whats on the actiontec like 192.168.69.1/24 then plug the WAN port on the linksys into the LAN side on the actiontec…(This is assuming you left the WAN port on the linksys set to DHCP)

but when this doesn’t fix your ebay issues…please post back up and we can work on that…

well we just said the hell with it and bought an 8 port switch and got everything up and running. as for the ebay issues, i didnt have time to use it today, but im sure josh will comment if he had/has a problem.

the switch box is a D-link 8 port 10/100/1000 mbps.

Thanks for the help though guys, im sure if the ebay issue isnt fixed, you will be hearing about it.

Fixed?

seems to be so far. i havent had a problem with ebay at all today. i think its more or less a lack of ram on the computers themselves.

as for the router issues, everything is good to go now. thanks again for your help
