Windows 10 Thread: Phones, Surface & PC (Formerly Nokia Phones)

A day later I am totally sold on Windows Phone. The design, layout, speed… I’m sold. The only app I am missing is my Yahoo fantasy Football app, but I can make do with the website.

In terms of the Nokia part…the battery is far and away better than any droid I’ve used. The screen is night and day difference, sunlight is no problem, before I had to find shade just to strain my eyes to see the screen. Speaker is nice and clear. Good build quality, nice weight, and the second best camera in a phone on the market (to the Nokia 1020). The low light picture quality on this thing is nuts.

The one reason I might switch to the 5S is the concur application I use for work expenses/travel doesn’t let you build expense reports or book travel on a windows phone :frowning:

What do you use for expenses? I just need to submit an excel sheet with pictures of receipts.

It also ties everything into TripIt to track travel.

You can book flights, cars, and hotels via the iPhone app

Also you can take pictures of receipts and put them directly into expense reports inside the app

Here is their feature list/info below

The windows app lets you take pictures of receipts but you can’t build or submit expense reports from the app.

Hows the camera?

I haven’t had a chance to take any decent photos with it.

thats a pretty fucking awesome app for the road warrior. if I traveled more than once a month for work, that would probably be something I need to look at.

Keep in mind facebook compressed these images etc but original

just found a fantasy football app that works with yahoo. live tiles updates of my team on my homescreen? yes please.

also just discovered: glance and tap to wake.

I am in serious love with this phone. Havent been pumped for a phone in a verrrry long time.

How nice is it to have a clock on the outside of your screen without having to press anything?

Tap to wake is great, but on these phones with the high-sensitivity screens (you can use gloves without silly fingertips) I’ve had my phone screen turn on in my pocket when it bumps into my thigh, lol. Just a heads up.

The NFL.com app is kinda shitty. I’ll get score notices super late, lol. Maybe because it’s a ‘Verizon’ app. But I’m not big on sports anyway.

i’ve got the sensitivity on normal for now, might change it come winter.

im using an app called statgnome for the FF.

There are a lot of 3rd party apps out there that are way better than official apps. It’s the plus side of a marketplace with less developer interest than Apple / Google.

Charged my Lumia 1020 18 hours ago and its still at 76% battery life

This is with Wifi on and an Exchange account and a Gmail account that pulls every 30min.

Used facebook/twitter/been on LTE when out and about

1020 not available for VZW :frowning:

Just sayin…

2 email accounts 1 exchange and 1 that pulls every 30min
LTE
Wifi on/off when out of the house
Facebook/twitter/etc

The Windows Marketplace and lack of customization still throws me off.

This is an IMG tag test post, but I’ll make it relevant.

New devices coming, probably not better than the 1020 though:

sorry you cant get fart apps.

And the customization of tiles is (to me) far better then android ever was.

I uploaded a few of the random high res photos I had kicking around

They look great, especially the shots from the air.
