Windows 10 Thread: Phones, Surface & PC (Formerly Nokia Phones)

lol think whatever you want man

if it aint iOS, jays aint liking it

I really like that 1020, but I hate that I would buy a phone for just it’s camera…my last 2 phones were an Iphone and a Droid. I’m also considering switching from Verizon to AT&T…

Its smooth,
Has all the apps I need for work and social crap
Its half way in the middle when it comes to customizing iOS vs Android
Camera works great

There is a undocumented bug if you configure this thing with a live/outlook.com account use the alias email address and not the primary people/chat won’t work and the majority of the internet doesn’t have any idea that is the issue.

I do like the idea of it being outlook friendly. Makes for syncing my phone with my home office/work office computers.

Best feature for me is SkyDrive + Office. And pinning people to the desktop to see any of their social media updates at a glace / live tiles is great too.

Battery life is much better then my iPhone

There isn’t any push for gmail :tif:

Windows 8.1 is supposed to have a full blown notification center which is the one thing this lacks if you use facebook/twitter

The other annoying feature is the people/message app doesn’t mark messages sent by you on other devices. If I send a message from facebook web app it doesn’t make it look like I sent it on the phone

The “notification center” is supposed to be the start / home / live tile screen. If you put live tiles for everything social that you use, you can easily see when you have notices.

Although the Facebook app sometimes doesn’t show notifications and I think it might be because I have specific people pinned. Because their live tiles are constantly updating, Facebook doesn’t notify me because it assumes I’ve already checked their site. I use Twitter more anyway.

Maybe I’m not following, but when you have all your contacts linked with all of their social media accounts (sometimes the phone does this automatically) all you need to do is hit the switch button in messaging and everything not only stays in-line with previous conversations but also notes at the bottom of the text bubble that it was a Facebook message.

What I mean is the entire convo doesn’t show up.

If I talked to you on facebook from a web browser then switched my phone I would only see things you said not things I said.

Other apps sync the full convo

Does that make sense?

Ah gotcha. I just keep all of my (very limited) Facebook conversations over the device not a web browser.

I’m really happy with the phone though still have more tweaking to do.

I wish they would also let you do more then 1 detailed notification on the lock screen

I’m hoping someone comes up with a mod to put notifications on the glance screen like my N9 had. These phone do show if you’re in silent mode or charge level, but not notifications on the glance screen.

Guess I don’t have to wait long, lol. GDR3 + “Bittersweet Shimmer” update coming:

1020 takes some really nice video just enable HD

Stabilization for a phone is amazing.
Sound came out great

If you compare to my 4S in similar lighting from a few weeks ago.

Cool stuff. I did notice some autofocus stumble in your top video, but that can be fixed with Nokia ProCam / locking focus on the subject.

Yea I just opened the app and start recording im going to start messing with manual settings next time

just activated and started setting up my 928. this thing blows my razr out of the water so far.

I’m pumped to pick up a couple wireless chargers, plugging in to charge is for chumps.

my head just exploded trying to comprehend this.

lol. I have a wireless charger on my desk. Set it down and power up.

Works great despite some who said it “charges slow.” What I actually think is that for the first 5min it charges slow, then gradually gets faster as it gets to a full charge.

For the guys without it (LZ) there is a way to add it to your phone WITHOUT the extra case thing. If you’re willing to crack open the case though.

No point really I have a case on it anyways…I would just get the wireless charging case.

If my wife doesn’t take this phone from me I might get a wireless charging setup.
