That’s ironic I just finished a 2006 bottle of Smoking Loon Cab Sav the other night I thought it was so/so.
The process is never ending, you can taste wine everyday (which I do) and go through thousands of wines a year. Then when the next vintage comes out, you have to start all over again. I take wine as an education and a life-long project.
Ill have to look into that casa larga place , maybe shoot down there sometime in the spring/summer.
Oh and wine drunk> liquor drunk> beer drunk. But wine hangover is usually shitty (er).
I dislike reds for the most part.
Bully Hill has a cheap sweet blush that I like, I don’t know the name but it has a sun on the label.
For the most part I enjoy dry white wines ice cold.
we had an awesome selection last night i must say
everything from novelty flavor wines, to ports, pinots, merlots
the hangover this morning however…
fuck.
lol.
as the night progressed i got tired of wine and broke out trusty ol JD and it all went downhill from there.
lol, i get it now.
i didnt have sound lmao.
Dr. H. Thanisch Bernkasteler Doctor Riesling Spatlese, 2004.
In 2004, i could get it for 7 dollars a bottle… a year later it was 40/bottle. Now I can’t find it anywhere… It was easily the best riesling that I’ve ever had, and I would still pay 40/bottle for it.
BUMP. I am bumping this instead of making my own thread.
I need to know a good wine to buy as a Christmas gift.
A) I don’t drink wine, only at special occasions and if someone else is buying.
B) My boss loves wine.
C) Keep it under $250
OK GO!
Getting drunk off box wine = nasty hangover
porto = good
Let me make another thing, I know nothing about wine, so a brand name, picture, website link are all very good ideas to include.
Big  to ezfd for the help last night and for expanding my horizons by convincing me to try something new…
Dry red, has a tad more flavor than the lower end merlots that I usually drink (ei) toasted head. Nice change of pace. Ill be back eric for some french lovin :mamoru:

Wow I thought this thread was going to die after my initial post hahaha
lol
I’ve heard that really expensive wine tastes like ass. Don’t worry about price. Given how fucked the economy is, the local aspect of an economy is more important than ever, so I’d recommend going somewhere local. Hot apple wine with mulling spices, including the recipe from becker farms, could make for a nice gift. Tasty too. I hear from the wine snobs that niagara wineries don’t offer the best wines, but I like them and giving a gift of wine is all about character. Nothing like local charm.
Redcat is a good cheap wine. its like 15 for a bottle, and i dont think it tastes too bad, but then again ive never had expensive wine. pretty sure its a rochester based wine too
girls like it. lol

2 words: Argentine reds.
If anyone is interested in trying something new/different, try a Malbec or Bonarda from Mendoza or Patagonia. These are some of my new favorite wines. After my visit to Argentina in July, I was absolutely hooked on these wines.
