Winter to do list: 2001 Audi S4

hence the word IF hahah id love to get a dogbox someday

All he needs is a functional slave cylinder, gears are not the problem

I can’t do it although I did find one A LOT cheaper at $8,000

that was the issue huh?

And 3-4 collar and hopefully nothing else.

No I’m gonna guess you need the gears too, what I meant before that gear strength was not an issue

I am hoping the gears are ok. Prob needs syncros too

Don’t kid yourself you know it needs syncros Lol

Well lets go get it since apparently I am going to get a bike down in NYC with the cheese

doesnt straight cut feel/shift/sound rough as hell?

No it shifts great but may be noisy

i saw some videos on youtubes, man they ARE noisy

there are 2 different things to consider here. the straight cut gear, and the dogbox engagement.

there is the fact that the gears are straight cut, this doesnt affect engagement, this is purely sound. straight cut gears can be stronger though.

the second is that it has dogbox engagement. this means there are no syncros only thick “ears” that engage each other. without syncro the input shaft will not spin up like with normal syncros, so you have to rev up the engine or jam it in gear to engage a lower gear.

Either way I unfortunately can’t/don’t want to afford such a tranny. As much as i would love the looks I get and the durability. I just plan to order as little as possible to get it back working properly.

Ordered the spider hose and afterrun coolant pump:
