Well, it was time to get a more practical car, so I picked up a 2001 Audi S4. Has room for 5, quattro for the winter, and I needed something more professional looking. Can’t roll up to meetings and such in the 240.
I’m pretty happy with the car. It handles well, brakes well, and has some pretty good acceleration. It is a V6 2.7L Twin Turbo; so the potential for upgrades is definitely there, and there is a lot of aftermarket support for it.
My plans are to, of course, modify it, but nothing too crazy yet.
Wheels/tire
Lowering Spring, mainly to just stiffin it up
Minor cosmetic add-ons such as a front lip and rear lip spoiler
Short Shifter
GIAC ecu re-tune (i think this brings it to about 16lbs of boost)
Intake
Downpipes
Exhaust
Diverter valves
Motor mounts
I think this should make it a fun car to drive all around, and a lot of fun at the auto-x’s next year. Stock the car is 250hp, and with these mods, guys are estimating approximately 320hp. Some people are neck and neck with E46 M3’s at this point. Fast enough for me, I’ve had my fun already. haha.
ohhh baby, that is one SEXY car, i love those S4’s! those wheels are beautiful. nice choice on the car, nothing can replace that 240 of yours but this with some mods it will do a nice job of keeping up.
Thanks for the comments guys. I’m pretty happy with it. Now that the snow it around, with the winter tires on, this thing is great. Glad I bought an all year driver.
Alan: Ya, all you see is plastic when you open the hood. They come off with clips though, real simple. The only downside of this car, is that doing work on the engine is like a Z32, absolutely no room.
