wiper speed question

Let me start this out by stating this is most definitely a #firstworldproblem.

I have an 08 A4, and the difference in speed between low and the highest intermittent setting is too much for me.

Is there any way to speed up the intermittent setting? Luke?

I feel like such a herb asking, but its super annoying to me.

  1. I am super pissed you bought that car. I wanted it and the wife was moments away from saying yes when you announced it to be yours.
  2. Seriously?
  3. I am assuming that it is a potentiometer or a speed switch, I have never opened one up. Did you try googling a wiring diagram for the wiper system?
  4. Seriously?

don’t forget to factor in that this audi has speed sensitive wipers so the frequency will change for each setting depending on how fast you are driving.

I did not, I honestly wouldn’t know what I am looking at/for.

Sell it.

Convert it to a vacuum operated system and all the control will be in the throttle under your left foot:)

I feel as though you are stuck with it.

It is actually a system based on vehicle speed, so the control is currently under his right foot.

I have noticed with my A3 that if I have rainx I can just run it on a middle intermittent setting and I’m totally happy with it since the water beads up nicely and don’t bother me.

It has nothing to do with your question, but I hate when people drive around with their wipers going at full speed when it is raining very lightly out. That is all.

Lady in front of me yesterday was doing this. It wasn’t really even raining, just some tire mist…a small amount. I could see her wipers through the back window going FULL blast.

Oh I want some Aquapel…

I will buy a 6 pack if anyone wants to pay only $6.00 instead of the usual $10

Mike, I’ll take one, possibly two. (I was not able to get over to my father’s place today I should be able to get there tomorrow.)

I do rain x my windows often also, but I think the wipers work great with the rain sensor. I have it on both the bmw and the audi, I find it really annoying driving the wifes suv that does not have it.

I’ll buy one from you for $6.

Zip tie a brick to each arm. Move it further up or down the arm to adjust speed.

on the right hand side wiper stalk, that little lever tab thing on the front of the stalk facing you, goes up and down and varies the intermittent function. It’s not high and low, it’s like 5 or 6 positions.

Agreed^ that is why I dont understand why he has a problem with the speed, I think the rain sensor works great.

Sorry, I dont. step 1 with the variable speed all the way up is too slow by about a second. the next step up i’ve always known as “low”, its always the same speed, no adjustment. I just want the variable slightly faster.

I end up just hitting it manually for the most part. Looks like I’ll have to live with it.

woe is me.

I’ll take one please

There is likely no way to change this unfortuneately. Older cars (mid nineties and older) used a simple time delay circuit that could easily be changed by swapping out a counter or time delay relay.

Newer cars have programmed circuits with coded frequencies that often cannot be modified.

I literally no nothing about Audi but, if you can find out what actually controls the circuit we might be able to see if something can be changed.
