Wireless Network Experts Wanted

i need ur help im trying to set up a wireless internet for my GF’s friend i have everything connected right but when it tries to configure everything it says that it cannot find the internet?? i have done a wireless network for my GF’s house but i didnt have this problem.

what we have is a linksys wireless g router she has DSL internet. when she is connected to the internet it says that it has limited or no connectivity but you can still sirf the web and stuff so i dunno if that has anything to do with it but i know when my GF gets that her internet dont work.

when i run the program that comes with the router and i get to the part where you have to set up what type of connection you have, i have to choose from a list of items and i have no clue what they mean.

DHCP
PPPOE
Static IP
PPTP
L2TP
TELSTRA

i think the setting i should be on is DHCP cause thats what it says under the type of server or address assigned i think.

her internet works when its not connected to the router and just the computer any help would be great.

If she has DSL, you want to be using PPPOE. NOT dhcp. Thats the one thing I can think of right away

i actually tried that one first but i still get the message saying cannot find internet

You got to make sure you have the login and password put it on the linksys basic setup page =p

yea thats done then i go to where it wants you to chance the password for the router and after that i get the message

if your provider’s adelphia, it’s DHCP

*hours later, i see it’s DSL

/'s self

PPPoE (with login/password), and reset the modem after connecting it to the router.

i think its AOL high speed she has

eww @ aol.

login/pass for the DSL, not the router

no after all thats put in it says the default password for the router is admin it wants you to change it to something else then i get stuck

Make sure the DSL modem doesn’t have a built in router

If it does, disable the DHCP server.

Switch your linksys to DHCP

If there is no router - then it is probably PPPoE

yes MOST dsl companies use pppoe

yeah, but when i went down to florida, verizon set it up as DHCP

NO

not at the log in for the router.

oi, this makes my head hurt, nevermind.

no i got what u meant i dont think u got what i meant
