Did the same to the old dodge at an RPM show many years ago. Only thing that save it was the fact that the rad split and relived the pressure and some good bystander reached in and shut it down when they saw the smoke. Must have been running ~30 minutes w/o a fan.
I forget sometimes when im in my truck in traffic, I will look down and see the temp rising, and then switch the fan to come on. If someone ever borrows my truck I leave the switch on and tell them not to touch the switches.

To be honest I was hoping to do this temporarily so I can bypass the dead temp sensor/thermostat/whatever isnt kicking the fan on. I dont mind flipping the switch to turn the fan on if I can drive the car without temps rising. PM’d
