You could go with 91 because it the better gas to run at average boost levels. The octane of the 94 sunoco gas is made up with mostly ethanol.
If you’re not pinging with your 91 you’re wasting money and making it harder to ignite your fuel with 94.
Higher octane does not always equal to more power or better. Use the octane that your setup requires. It’ll make more power and it’ll be cheaper.
Okay, mileage. I get about the same with KA or SR or RB20. If I’m boosting hard all day, its pretty obvious you’ll kill your gas tank faster. Good mix of both and I get the same.
Thank you ronnie. It’s like those idiots who run 94 in stock KA’s lol. 91 is perfectly fine for an SR or RB. I get the same mileage out of my RB that I did with the KA in my S14.
I filled up yesterday, drove 250km to the drag strip, ran 15 runs, 5 of which used anti lag, plus the driving in the pits, then drove home 250km.
I’m still somewhere between 1/4 tank and empty.
My tune is pig rich (~11.5-12.0 in boost), and we probably averaged 115 km/h highway speeds, because 180km/h should be saved for the track.
So a tank of 91 octane gets me 500 highway km’s and a day of racing on a pig rich switched antilag setup.
I think that’s very good for the SR20.
I boost 18 lbs on the street, and it peaked at 25 on the track yesterday…still have to look into that.
Compared to the 320km to a tank regular driving that I used to get in the supercharged Maxima, this is great.
I don’t give a shit about gas mileage, I just keep filling up on Ultra 94… When you have serious HP you need to stop thinking about good gas mileage because Good Gas Mileage and Serious Horse Power don’t mix together, it’s like an oxymoron.
I have never seen a 4 cyl burn as much gas as my SR does lol. My 3.8L V6 Buick get’s better mileage then my SR…then again the 3.8 V6 in my Buick has less then half the HP the SR in my 240sx has LOL.
honestly, i found ka to be worse on gas than my sr mainly because of 5 things
MY SR WAS IN MUCH BETTER RUNNING CONDITION THAN KA (never planned on taking care of the ka)
SR is smaller motor ?
Better gas better millage ?
People usually tend to take care of there sr’s better than ka ?
And even if people got better millage with there ka they like to lie and say sr is better to look cooler, and feel like they didnt waste their money lol
My only SR car got 600 at best, but once in a while it would randomly get 700.
My RB cars are always terrible on gas because they’re just so much more fun to drive, it’s impossible to drive them nicely. I got 500km in my GTR once, then it cost me $75 to fill it back up, stupid big tank.
Moral of the story is: once you go RB you’ll never go back… 25/26 that is. 20’s aren’t great.
