Im going to be geting my g2 soon and with gas prices so damn high i was wondering how you guys cope with it, and what i can do with a 89 5speed manual to get the most mpg.Iv seen posts were people argue that an sr20 is more fuel-efficient than my stock ka, so if i were to get a clip i would be geting more power AND more mpg?
with a turbo car u would only get better mpg if you drive like a grandma. The KA motor can can get up to 650 km on a full tank, thats what i got with my car before.
Most likely you won’t hit those numbers depending on engine conditions.
How to cope with gas prices?? uhh…gotta suck it up.
Get a job. I see where your coming from. Im driving a 94 diesel golf while my 91 240sx is in the shop putting new floors in and there both starting to hurt my savings. Fuel for the golf is at $1.24 / L. But if you only have your g1 getting g2, then that means you will have to pay for insurance for your own car soon which will make gas the least of your worries.
Just don’t think about it… Well I can say lately I’ve been cringing on my way to work every time I see the Sunoco that I regularly fill up at. 94 really takes a blow to your wallet.
PS. If I drive my turbo car like a Granny then I only use $60 in one month… that’s about 400km in my 300. (I don’t drive very far for work at all)
PSS. If I boost most of the time and regular drive it the rest, I’ll blow through $60 just shy of a week.
how do I cope? bycicle and drive like 85 years old granny minus the granny shifting most of the time :D. you know boost is addicting and the gas price is not. also, watch the gas price. there is always certain days that’s it’s cheaper before they jack it up 10c more/L before the payday. btw, pioneer station is usually is the cheapest.
hey thanks for the help, i pray my co-op placment will start paying me
You guys are complaining now? I’m getting ready for $2.25/L by 2012…
Keep some extra money in your pockets, and drive more grandma style, save spirited driving for track.
My SR gets 700KM/tank on the hwy, about 450km/tank in the city. I don’t drive like a grandma, but I don’t run it to redline all the time.
Most people I’ve talked to as well say their KA doesn’t get as good mileage as an SR.
450-500/tank in the city.
400 - 450km City
500 - 550km Highway
SOHC KA
GRANNY DRIVING ftw! …dam, it’s hard
i spent 200 bucks on gas just this weekend. i spend 50 bucks a day/every other day IF im luckey.
my ka after i re-built it got 800km to the tank.
my truck… 350.
oh really, hmm djpyro said like 450 and most of you ka’s are saying the same, but i love how sr’s have more power and around the same OR maby better mpg. Im thinking if i got my stock ka a new O2 sensor i can get a little more mpg out of it.
mine had new everything lol it ran awsome. till i blew it up. but in any case yeah 800k to the tank all highway going about 120.
280km city
340km highway
30-33L each fill up
Mine was running pig rich last year though. I should be closer to 500/city this season, even with more boost.
Oh nice glad to hear. Sr it is (when im rdy for it XD)
sr FTMFL
FOR THE MOTHER ****ING LOSSSSSSSS
350-400 city
400-450 pure highway
