Working on cars

IMO doing it yourself is 60% of the fun. A guy I work with has put $10,000 into his RSX-S, doesn’t do any of the work himself, and still is barely in the 14’s. I get along with him and talk cars with him, but I don’t see the point. At least if he did the installs himself I might be able to understand. I’ve even offered to let him use my garage and my tools. I think there is a lot of satisfaction to be able to say that you built the car yourself.

The only frustrating thing is when you end up not having all the right tools, but that’s just an excuse to buy what you need and have it for future use.

Oh, and it also helps if your car isn’t a daily driver.

for you, doing it is the fun. For others, driving the finished car is the fun. I enjoy working on cars, but if I had the money, I would pay someone to do the stuff I don’t like to deal with. I hate bodywork, so I would pay someone to do that for me.

I guess you’re right. For me after spending all day in front of a computer dealing with peoples connectivity problems I like to go home and do something to help me relax. For me that’s either working on the car/house or lifting weights/running. The guy I was talking about in the other post likes to go home and play online games. Just two different types of stress relief I guess.

I am slowly becoming more geeky though. I haven’t gotten into the online gaming thing yet but I’m planning a small network in my house with a Linux firewall/router/web server, a computer dedicated to a/v for the entertainment center, then a regular box for web surfing/general computing. :embarassd

for me I just don’t have the time and equipment. I am contemplating to just have someone do the work on the corrado that I want since i don’t have time to mess with it.

For me I would rather drive the car and have fun with it then work on it, working on it is cool and i am happy that i can do somethings myself. but I reach a roadblock and i get frustrated. thats what sucks
