figured i’d post this here too so non members can read as well
i bought a s14 that was mr.synisters…white black hood. I’m in the process of tearing it apart cuz thats what you do in winter. Aparently the car was built by a shop in scarborough thats still in business…thats what i hear at least from asking around. The quality of EVERYTHING on the car from the motorswap to the fuel plumbing to the hardware to the electrical work… Everything is fucked!!! Not one thing was done with even half a ass of effort or care. I’m suprised this car never caught on fire or blew the fuck up! Needless to say i’m redoing the entire thing. Anyways it blows my fucking mind to think that people pay some of these shops for this kind of piss poor workmanship and think its acceptable.
straight up, joe’s car was flawless untill you bought it. Anyone who says that joe’s car is a driveway queen does not know what their talking about and either does the poster of this thread saying that the shop joe gets his work done is shady. I have been getting work done at this shop with all my 240’s and skyline an recieved nothing but professionalism. I am not going to say the shops name because you 240 punks gossip more then constipated old ladies.
I am not commenting about the shop in question but I do agree with the original statement. The first shop I took my car too clearly closed my hood on a tool and refused to pay for any repairs. You really have to find the right place when your talking about project cars. The nissan dealer wouldn’t even touch my car when I took it there. So if you want quality work you pretty much have to do it yourself or pay a lot for someone who cares.
Arruda maybe you have low standards and think wires just twisted together everywhere and electircal taped over is ok or 2 different size vacuum hoses shoved in eachother and sealed with 4 crappy tire hose clamps to make a connection is ok too? or how about just random sized hardware or worng sizes just shoved in a hole? or how about how i had to jiggle the wires behind the turbo timer to get the ignition to work or the fuel pump wiring that just falls out of the splices…you have no idea saying this car was good till i got it…yes it looked good but thats it. I mean every now and then a shop puts out sloppy work, it just happens for whatever reason. no questions asked. But maybe this car was it. Almost every aspect of this car looked like it was built by a bunch of guys who didnt know. Whatever though, i rarely go to shops…only for dyno work and stuff like that. I go to SG. Seeing how this car was built, why would i go back to the original place? Also why do you think i’m selling 99% of the parts that the car was built with…its all junk that wont last
^ sounds like a car that came by my place once. Actually sounds just like it! Vacuum hoses t’d off a billion times. Wires wrapped together and electrical taped, some of the time. Wires dangling not secured. Open wires grounding and killing the $10 driving lights installed instead of pop-ups. Yeah there are some shops that just don’t do it properly. I dunno if its on purpose but i think its just a rush job trying to meet a deadline.
Anyways, goodluck with the rebuild. Gotta admit its kinda fun solving all the problems people make with cars. So long as its not your daily.
