My best friend called me when I was out of town on vacation yesterday and I just ended up calling him back. He didn’t leave a message so I didn’t think anything of it.
It turns out that yesterday his place caught fire and completely burned. He lost everything except his car and his cell phone. He was out of the house for about an hour with his girlfriend and came back to the fire dept. fighting the blaze.
The worst thing? They lost all three of their dogs. She had brought her 2 pugs over, and his pug puppy was at home. All three died in the fire.
I’m rarely speechless but I didn’t know what to say. I’m so glad they weren’t hurt personally, but I wish I could do something for him.
Fire Dept. said that fire was so intense the smoke alarms probably only went off for about a min. before they burnt to the point of not working any longer. Hard to believe.
That is what I kept saying. He still can’t shake the “Why couldn’t it happen an hour earlier when we were all outside” though.
Probably going to book a trip to go up and hang out and try and keep his mind off it… tough to keep your mind off it when you don’t have anything, much less just the loss of a pet.
wow…fuckin sucks…if you have the means or the space, fly him and his girl out to come stay with you for a few days and have him just chill out with you to try n forget about shit…damn, losing A pet sucks, but losing 3 at one time? thats terrible…i woulda been flipping the fuck out and destroying shit if somethin like that happend to me…sounds like hes pretty calm about everything :gotme: how is he taking it?
pffft he has every right to cry over something like this…losing every possession and his pets?..sounds like a good time to cry to me…i would just let your buddy know that you’ll do anything u can to help out…thats really all you can do for him ya know?
yea man i hear you…i wasnt saying you thought he was less of a man for crying…terrible events like this test the strongest persons emotions…it is wierd to see your best friend vulnerable and broken down when you know them to not be that way…hopefully shit gets sorted out for them so they can re-start their lives
Definitely, this thread should be a reminder to each of you how important it is to carry home owner / renters (content) insurance. Something can happen at any time, and it costs a lot more to rebuild than you could ever imagine. It is only a few dollars a month. If you can’t afford it, in reality, you can’t afford a few other things in your life.
