Written off cars

Just wondering what happens when a car is written off. Can I buy it back, fix it and put it back on the road?

Yes, you can. If the damage was great enough that it was BRANDED, you will have to bring to a certified shop to have it inspected after you have done the work to fix it up.

Theo

what WILL happen is that you will need to show what you paid for the car otherwise you are getting $4000 for an S13b and $2800 for an S13a if it was in great shape.

your SR wont matter unless you told the insco, but you should have because it doesnt matter you end up paying more for less coverage because you are going to keep it anyways so why insure it.

if you can show proof that you paid taxes on the $7500 car which i think you were around if i am not mistaken then you can use that to increase the value of the insco payout. if you have any other information USE IT!

if for example the insco offers you $5000 you will then have the option to buy the car back and get the payout of $3500 or thereabouts.

that is prolly your best bet.

buy another chassis for $4000 in good shape, sawp over the toys and part your remains for the balance of the decent chassis beyond the insco payout.

problem solved.

Thanks for the info guys.

I’m not sure if it will be written off but, as its an 89, im sure it will be, unless they see the extra money into the car or something like bing said.

The damage is the drivers side door to the quarter panel, fenders, front bumper and one headlight cover. Will probably be more then what they think the car is worth, but who knows. Will most likely know by tommorow or the next day.

Maybe I can work out a deal if I can source the parts for cheap or somethin.

I’ll keep you guys updated.

What happened bro?

Rich: I got hit going up a mountain access in west hamilton. The lady coming down was going too fast while approaching a corner, locked up her tires and went straight instead of around the corner and ended up in the side of me. Real shitty deal.

pick420: Checked, thanks man. Looks like they may fix it as of now, if I need anything I will let you know.
