wtb: bike

yea…theyre not the same engines and everything. that is unless you swapped it in. engine, brakes, suspension completely inferior to a gsxr. (i had a katana before, so i can bash them, they are great beginer bikes though)

i have an 04 GSXR 600, awesome bike, its my first and i absolutly love it. They are extremely forgiving man, good first bike. I would check them out a little better.

i got a ninja 600R, its pretty comfortable

i would look at the cbr if I were you, the resale is pretty bad I believe so you could pick one up cheap

I had a 2002 R6, great bike but after about 10,000 miles, second gear skips. It’s a common problem with them. The shift forks get bent and i had to replace all of them plus the gears. Cost me about $1,600. But a great wheelie bike. Front end super lite. My bro has a honda 600rr. Also a great bike. Just be careful if you get one. I almost had a guardrail cut me in half.

i heard aboutthe 2nd gear bullshit before on r6s= gay…y rnt they recalled or fixed so it doesnt happen or whatever

there are forums about that. There are people trying to get a class action suit against yamaha but it’ll never happen. Yamaha considers it user abuse. I have seen other bikes take a worse beating and never have that problem. I miss is though.

I was pertaining towards the engine, everything else is different. if you look up the 98 katanas, the first year they totally redisgned them, they used the gsxr engines in them the first year i believe, after that different. you are right they are great beginner bikes and very quick.

are you sure they used the gixxer motor in the katana?

i could be wrong but when i bought the bike that is what i was told and i remember reading it somewhere when i was looking it up before i bought it.

just went to a couple sights around on ask jeeves and both engines are rated the same amount of torque and hp, both inline 600cc

katana’s a good learning bike, but heavy as [email=“f#@k”]f#@k!

sorry dude, still wrong. not trying to be mean, just trying to give you the real facts on them.

the katana engine was based off the ORIGINAL GSXR from way back in the 80s. even then it was detuned. they are air/oil cooled 600s, 750s, and 1200 (in the bandits). gixxers all have liquid cooled motors now (and have for a long time) which share nothing in common except for being 600cc. best year katana were 88-97, they had the most hp, about 80hp crank. compared to ~110hp of a gixxer.

Then im wrong then, i will admit it, my first bike, im not a rocket scientist with them, but i knew i read something about them being based off of it.
