Dont listen to anyone that tells you " dont buy a 240" blah blah blah … do what ever you think is right. I bought a shitty one, and it was a HUGE mistake… but it felt good having one. Just save some more cash and get a MINT s13 coupe for like 3500, or more etc. In the end you will thank yourself. because, with safety and certification, it doesent matter what hook ups u got, if ur car isint running in great condition when u buy it, then its not worth the effort or time, when applying it as a project car.
yea man … u need more then just the “initial cost price” u gotta think about, paying the PST ( or GST i forget :S), getting plates, new stickers, certification, e-test if not valid etc ( even if u have hook ups, u still gotta pay “some” amount of loot) aswell as other little things the car may need before owning it. Maybe it needs a new powersteering line , or something like that. Try to think " over the top", basically meaning, you put every single situation into consideration. for example…
you find a decent coupe in good running condition for 2000$. You low ball, and make a deal with the seller, and get it for 1700$. You have 800$ left over, you can get everything the car needs, plus gas, plus some new oil, plus some new plugs …etc. AND even have enough to treat yourself… maybe buy a pair of kicks or something lol. Basically… u have enough to buy the car ( cash in hand) and get everything done asap.
Now a bad situation, the car is being sold for 3000$, u low ball and get it for 2700$. You are in debt, you make a deal with the seller, and find a way 2 pay it off. BUT, now your in the hole. you have no money, the car is in your garage, missing parts crutial for it to run, and all that jazz. And your stuck at home, on ANOTHER friday night … watching amature videos of ppl driving their 240’s, and episodes of Initial D over youtube. saying to yourself… " i wish my car would start, i wish i could do that." you dont want that to happen. lol, save save save! , thank me later on
p.s … sorry for the rant … i guess i got a “bit” to personal haha
most of that i dont have to worry about, basically all i have to do is pay for THE CAR, the upgrades and some gas here and there. The stickers, plates, insurance will be covered by my parents (i’m 16 lol) cert. and e-test my dads certified to do so. Parts like powersteering lines, brake lines, clutch and all the stuff for it to run well, i wont have to worry about because my shop will easily provide parts with a low budget and i also have a couple techs by my side for w/e installation. The oil, my shop was given a 5 year supply or something like that of castrol motor oil.
The most i would have to worry about is FINDING a car and my upgrades:)
ive got a couple good offers, and i seem to only be interested in red 240s.
LUCKY KID! When I was 16, I had to hide all the cars from my parents by parking them in the visitor’s parking lot of appartment building across, and always had to shit balls because they tow unplated/unmoved vehicles. Had to ‘get’ plates and move them around like at least once a day. I had 3 cars at once, pure stress (I was flipping to afford my civic) and also had to work. That was my Pursuit of Boostness
