WTB: T5 tranny. working or not.

I am leaning towards the T-5 WC transmission for the jetta project. Should survive stock with the power levels at the lower end of my goals and aftermarket support it through the roof for those boxes.

WC T5 out of a mustang.

Guy claims it shifts perfectly, hope this helps!

rgr that i will look around cl too. figured some of the shifter might have some crap laying around ill give first dibs to.

thx bro

Gotcha, no prob

you don’t want a trans out of a V6 camio. They are the light duty version and only have a 16 spline input shaft and the weak as hell non tapered bearings.

all the reading I saw was the main difference between the t5’s are the WC and non WC types. WC’s had the better bearings and what not where the others didnt. only reason I mentioned a v6 was for the smaller bell housing to work off.

94+ mustang box is ideal I guess.

the w/c is the better of the 2 . u will find those in the 90 up v8 f bodies all the other t-5,s are weaker ones . unless ya run a mustang t-5 . the truck and the 6 camaro are the weaker ones but the t-5,s are weak trans dude only hold 200 lb ft trq man

this they are junk to begin with. Thats why GM never put them behind a 350, they can hold up to the torque in the long run. I had a WC one last about one season in my camaro with a very mild 350. Another problem with using the V6 trans is the clutch selection isn’t there and the disc is freakin tiny. If your dead set on a T5 a WC is a must.

The T5 WC is what I was looking for. I read a bunch of reviews like this one: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/349.shtml

I am all ears, I dont see this motor making more than 450tq.

I may have something for you. I will let you know as soon as I can.

thanks dude. lemmi know.

Just skimming the posts, and didn’t see anytrhing mentioned about gear ratios. Not all WC T5’s share the same gearing. For instance f-bods and mustangs do not share the same gear ratio. Here is a decent link to IDing a T5 by the case tag.

Good luck

I have ran 11’s and pulled 1.5x 60fts with a stock T-5 in a 90 GT Mustang. The GM ones are weaker, but I have seen some take massive abuse and not break in those cars too. A friend of mine ran 10.81@126.7 with his stock T-5 in his 93 LX as well, 1.42 wheels up 60fts launching at 5500.

Ford used multiple gear ration like mentioned. Mustang T-5 from 85 up is WC. I have broken 2 but I REALLY am hard on them. They will take 400ft lbs of tq with no issues as long as you know how to drive and don’t miss a gear.

BTW, might be easier to get one from a V6 Stang and they have the same gearing as the V8 T-5 and up to '98 have the mechanical speedo provision. If you want you can change out the input shaft and bearing retainer on any of the sn95 T-5 to make it the same as a old foxbody trans…

mostly the weakness is in case flex . thats why they destroy shit lol.

What CODE trans I need:

13-52-199 90-91 Mustang 5.0
13-52-208 92-93 Mustang 5.0
13-52-218 93 Mustang Cobra 5.0
13-52-219 94 Mustang 5.0
13-52-242 94-95 Mustang Cobra 5.0
13-52-246 94-95 Mustang 5.0

all the ratios are: 3.35 1.99 1.33 1.00 0.68

Thats a deep first gear

the rear diff is a 4.11 (from what I gather reading online, might also be a 3.73)

with a 4.11 and a 25.5 tire…

41.34 MPH 1st
69.59 MPH 2nd
104.13 MPH 3rd
138.49 MPH 4th
203.66 MPH 5th

7500 shifts

with a 3.73 and 25.5 tire…
45.55 MPH
76.68 MPH
114.74 MPH
152.6 MPH
224.41 MPH

stock jetta is a:
3.300 1.944 1.308 1.029 0.837 with 3.938 R&P

25.5 tire

43.8 MPH 1st
74.35 MPH 2nd
110.5 MPH 3rd
140.47 MPH 4th
172.69 MPH 5th

7500 shifts

so actually its a quicker gear set slightly

if its a 4.11 in that dif. think of it like this…

94 mustang gt Curb Weight: 3276 lbs. 400whp 3.73 run 11’s or so right? knock off 700lbs… its going to be one fast Jetta!

Your turbo is small.
