I am almost done building my car hauler and if I can source out a VIN and a reg for someones junk ass trailer, I would buy that and make it work once its under my name… save alot of BS nys headache if I were to apply for the vin.

I dont think you need one. I think you just got and register it as homemade. The trailers I have and have had dont have a title. They just carry a registration
yeah but I think its over 1Klbs atm and I dont want to dick with the NYS homebuilt inspection BS.
I am going to throw lights on it and tug it down to the local stone query and weight it to see where I am at this week.

there is a trailer weight slip you need to register a trailer. Its not just a generic slip.
Not true. It just has to be a certified weight station slip. I got mine done at the truck stop at the port of albany.
