My P.c Is Telling Me That My Network Conection Is Limited…can anyone help me out with this? i like braught this back from the dead…porn killed it…i think it might be my eithernet slot on my motherboard…does anyone have an extra one laying around with the drivers?
huh, u need a NIC?
Can you ping anything, do you get an ip address? (start, run, cmd, ipconfig)
Usually network connection limited means its set to DHCP and its physically linked just not getting an IP…All though I have seen NICs fryed that say that.
^^^what Sherm said.
Also limited in Vista or limited or not connectivity in XP on a Wireless indicates a wrong WEP key about 99% of the time. If you are wireless, check the wireless you are connecting to/your wep key.
Most of the time if a NIC is fried it will say network cable unplugged because it is not detecting the cable, so it sounds like either a) your using wireless and its the wrong settings or b) your hardwired and not getting an IP.
it says unable to retreve ip or something wtih the ip… so i dont know how to fix it…it happens at both my mom’s house and my dad’s house
oh and its XP
go on a computer at your house where it works, get the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and dns server from it and assign it to yours and see if it works.

this would only work if you disable the computer you took the info from. if you dont, you will cause a network conflict and neither computer ill get online.
try just uninstalling/reinstalling the nic first. easy to do. make sure you reboot when that is done. see if it works then. if you need detailed instructions, post again.
make sure your not setup as a static IP. if you dont know how to do that IM me at MarkL3TWC. Also try uninstalling the driver and rebooting. If you have XP Service Pack 2 you can also go to run, type CMD and enter. IN the command line type NETSH WINSOCK RESET and hit enter, then reboot.
also go to control panel/internet options/connections make sure nothing is in dialup and virtual private network settings. Then go to Lan settings and make sure nothing is checked.
everything was checked if this works ill blow you
Control Panel>Network Connections>right click your connection>properties>Highlight Internet Protocol>click properties>…
-If you want to use a dynamic IP…make sure the automatics are checked
-If you want to use a static IP…follow this guide http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
could be as simple as the winsock fix…
You can keep your BJ if its fixed. I get them pretty much when I want from wifey =)
