did they ever fix the “ring of death” issue…
im looking to pick up one …is there anything to look out for with the issue or any issue?
The Falcon mainboard was supposed to be better but I’ve reports of RRoD on it as well. That’s what the one I have now is running on and after cracking it open it has an entirely different cooling and mounting system for the processor and GPU.
But really, who cares? Just get one and realize you’ll probably get RRoD eventually. I got over 2 years out of my first one and it took about 2 weeks for MS to replace it after it went RRoD and didn’t cost me a cent.
im thinking about picking one up from work and the lady says its brandnew still in box… but if this breaks do they need the receipt to fix it or is it just like ok we will fix it for you?
If it RRoD’s they fix it pretty much no questions asked. I didn’t even have to talk to tech support. Go online, fill out the form, they send you a box and a pre-paid shipping label to send it back. The serial # on mine was way out of the normal warranty period too, still no proof of purchase date required.
If something other than RRoD goes wrong with it you’d probably need a receipt.
x2 Microsoft is very good about getting these things fixed. I heard it take about 3 weeks from shipping to delivery.
Although I doubt you’ll see a lot of problems with a new one.
ive been thinking about finally picking one up as well. may as well while they’re so cheap
to be honest for you guys thinking about picking them up id wait till the holidays you’ll probably get them a bit cheaper after thanksgiving/before christmas

I have had mine for ~1year now and 0 issues.
chick at work has it for 150 but does not have any prof of purchase…she said her son does nto want it and bought it last week…no idea really dont care… i was going to lowball her for 100
150 is a sick deal if it’s not an arcade model. here is how you tell as far as i know. if there is an HDMI output on the xbox, you shouldn’t have any RROD issues. i leave mine on all the time and have had no issues at all.
this seems sketchy. if it’s brand new in box, and she has only had it for a week, why doesn’t she return it and get her money back.
just found out husband won it in a contest at his work and they are like 50’s and have no kids

meh. you’ll need a hard drive so plan on investing another 100 bucks eventually. unless you can scoop a used one from someone who upgraded theirs.
that being said just upgraded and finally got my transfer cable today you can have my hard drive for $50
why would i need the HD … i dont have internet and such…

you cant save your games with out one…well you can buy this little memoy card(64MB) type thing that will save 1 game and its costs 19.99 iirc
