You have $15K, and you want a convertable

I wouldnt mind an AP2, id miss the 9k redline but 8just fine. espically since i never get it that high anyways.

OR…AP1 with AP2 body conversion…but that can be pricey

Personally I don’t see what everyone has against Miatas … sure they are small and uneconomical and they have a “cute” factor to them, but the 50/50 weight distribution stock, Upper 20’s to 30 mpg, and enough cornering G’s to knock your socks off, I give it 2 thumbs up. When I go to the autox Sunday I’m hoping to finally find the cornering limits of mine, because I’ve far from attained them on the street. Granted I have the sport suspension and LSD but even stock it’s damn good with cornering.

For the price they sell for you can afford to put extra power into it, as well. For most the low power is the only point against, but it’s still just awesome for what it is, and the motor was more or less meant to be boosted, the way they made it at the factory.

CONVERTIBLE*

btw, i had no clue z4’s were so cheap now.

meh, lots of options out there… it depends on so many things in terms of your needs for luxury vs. performance, number of seats, and how much work your willing to do to your own car.

$15k is no mans land… there are a bunch of options closer to 10 or 20.

You forgot to mention 2200 lbs. Im with you 100% here. My only beef with them ever was the 1st gen styling but even that has grown on me.

Honestly, LSD, suspension and turbo, hell maybe even a 13b swap if you’re ambitious, and you have a car that will most likely be faster and definitely be more nimble than all of the other cars mentioned in this thread. Once again though, it really all depends on what your priorities are with the car though.

I’m surprised nobody said anything about a 240 vert, 300zx vert, mr2 spyder, or a porsche boxster. I have a my00 s2000. Love the car, the top is extremely fast to put down. My only complaint is 3000 rpms at 55mph, but I still get 30mpg.

tons of boxsters in this range… forgot about those.

Id go with z4. The Z3 M is too small IMO and Z4 seams just right. S2K is beautiful, sky are sexy but meh, so deff. go with Z4 or S2K.

if you are worried about revving it out to 9, swap the valve spring retainers(intake side only) to AP2 ones and you can hit 9k all day long, according to people on S2ki.

cobra

I vote against the miata.

Rather have a s2k or M vert.

and I have actually driven these cars.

Hell, I’d take an s2k over a miata any day, The fact it will try and kill you in the rain raises the fun factor by 10

IMO cobras have went back up in price. you could always find them on ebay for 16, 17, 18K

Meh, there are nicer seams, tailoringly speaking, but the seats are pretty badass. I hope to have a Z4 someday.

-///M roadster
-S2000
-Mazdaspeed Miata (There is one that is still for sale on the board. Almost every bolt on you can think of from flyin’ miata. Not sure where is price is right now but i think its at 16k. Check it out.)
-Porsche 356/550 kit car. You can find a lot of these ~15k ready to drive. I would personally get a cheap one thats checks out and tinker with it.
-MG midget with a toyota 4AGE swap
http://home.earthlink.net/~roethler/engine.html
-Locost 7

$15k buys you a lot. If you want sotck dependability, get the MSM, ///Mcoupe, or S2k. If you want something to keep for a while, get a kit or something you can work on.

S2000. Prices have really dropped in the past year and it’ll last 150k+ miles easy.

The MR2 spyder is a WAY overpriced. It doesnt have the power, not as cool as a S2k, manual top etc… BUT I personally sat on a MR2 spyder with Advan048 on it. It just literally handles like a go kart

Try and find a supra?

there’s a mazdaspeed miata on seneca st in elma/east aurora. great condition…i believe it’s priced at or around 15k… pm me if you want the #

decently low mileage as well iirc

+1

couldnt aggree more

i actually just bought ap1 intake cam and spring retainer set… 9k is so appetising. all that coming from another s2000 owner but out of the box you cant really beat it for the price. you can get a low mileage ap1 soo cheap!

haha yeah man how do you think i got my ap1. lol

i vote Ap1 s2k. if you concerned with the styling for an ap2 its really not that bad you just need the bumpers. and theres only one body mod needed to bolt em up other than paint. your lookin at like 14-15k and it will be done and clean after everything. i looked into it myself.

only saying it because i picked mine up for 12200 with just under 50k on it. only needed basic maint. when i bought it for my sake to make sure it kept running lol. (never know with prev. owners.)

-S2k
-350z vert. if possible
-then 240 vert.
IMO
