MY old setup on my s14 was Z32TT Front calipers only.
Stoped amazing. works fine. Pedal ‘feel’–> stop whining.
Velos had the “perfect” setup…
and that Stoped even better.
Want it to work perfect? Convert EVERYTHING To z32,–>MASTER, BOOSTER(<–important), calipers front AND REAR. and put new parts on for pete’s sake.(rotors+pad)
Oh and if you dont’ have a set of solid TC rods, get them now, or you will feel your car ‘wander’ when you hit the breaks. I’ll bet Varun or Bing will have a set the’re sitting on right now.
now, i’m getting a lot of different opinions here. unless i can get some solid opinions. then it’ll be a trial and error.
more then likely spend the 200 to have them put on and try it. works to my standards then i’ll rebuild calipers, cd&s rotors etc etc etc.
Yeah, I bet TC rods make a huge difference in feel. My car’s steering wheel turns clockwise like 30° while the car is still going straight (sometimes wanders) when I load the TC rod bushings under heavy braking. They’re fucked…but I haven’t put on Bing’s TC rods yet because I wanna put on my Nismo brace with them…and in order to do that I have to fix my rad support. Bahhhh, can’t wait til summer, performance parts in the basement collecting dust are sad to look at.
i did the swap on the front (30mm) and i felt the pedal was very mushy, i hated it. so i grabbed a z32 tt bmc from some auto parts store and it felt perfect after that. personally i love the really firm feel but to each his own i guess…
heres the site i got all my info from when doing the swap, should just about address any question you could possibly have about the topic…
for everyone that knows or has done the BMC swap. Do you HAVE to use the 2 front holes on the master? I skipped the center hole and just used to furthest towards the bumper and furthest towards the fire wall.
Just from gravity bleeding them all 4 are holding the same. I will know for sure once i drive the car in a month or so. Yet i’d rather ask to be sure. Can;t seem to find the answer any where.
HAH. I have the same “idea” for paint on my calipers. Black with NISSAN in red. Black rims with red stripe…figured…you know. Yea Lol
looks wicked Darkman!
I’m just finishing my swap now. Gotta bleed the brakes and fuck with the e-brake still.
Just curious about the 1-2-3 holes on the BMC
Don;t have pictures of my sway yet either. Yet it does look moocho bettah with the spacers and bigger brakes. Can’t wait to see how good these brakes will work! I always upgrade my brakes…dunno why. I just…like having brakes!
Only thing left is coil overs. Then my goal for winter time build up will be accomplished. Suspension and brakes.
my s14 had full z32 brakes all around w/ a working ebrake also w/ z32 master and took out the abs. the car felt awsome but you’ll need good tires and make sure your front end suspension parts are in tact or you’ll lock up (from experience i gave a couple of my tires flat spots then upgraded to bings tc rods and helped a lot)
gf s14 has only z32 front brakes and she loves them since she can tail gate people more safer according to her -.- its a bit on the slushy brake pedal feel but its no biggy but if the brake feel bugs you then do the whole brake conversion.
in short any s14 i have will have z32 brakes and the old s14 crew all had z32 front brakes so its well worth the upgrade.
The upgrade is done. BMC, Fronts rears, just gotta fix up the fackin e-brake. Brakes feel coherent. To me at least. I drove my car around our lot just to get a minor feel off the brakes while i broke in the p & r’s. it feels solid.
and Bing, jesus fuck does my car feel like a damn rock. lol. The tc rods. WICKED. Need an alignment baaaadly though. Coil overs, and thats it.
But back to my question.
Is it fine using the rear and front holes on the bmc rather than the two fronts like a lot of people say to do? I figured the z32tt runs it like that…why the fuck shouldn’t I? I just don’t wanna experience any intermitent brakes or whatever. Does not hurt to ask.
i take it you did the bmc. what holes did you use? front and rear? or front and middle? i have been told with or w/o abs makes a difference. as does s13/14…
pedal feels exactly the same on my car with the z brakes and i still have the oem s13 master cylinder. but on the other hand my rear brakes don’t seem to be fully engageing but that most likely is an isolated problem
the only downside is that thay lock up really easy cause, i had to loose my abs cause the oringnal hubs had become a lil oversized and the z-disks would seat, so the replacement hubs didn’t have the abs bungs.
I replaced one of my hubs because the spline on one of the studs was stripped. I have abs the hub I used did not. You can lightly tap the abs ring and it will pop off the hub. Then just lightly tap it onto your new hub.
