A* GP gloves I wear are now on sale for half price 150 there is no reason for wearing cheap gloves now.
Personally I always wear boots your ankles will snap like twigs in a crash or if you put your foot down which is a survival reaction when you think your going to crash can easily twist your ankle.
Jeans are crummy for protection. My knee touched the ground by mistake once a year or so ago in my jeans while being a bit aggressive on a round about turn. My jeans Tore open so easy… Those were my favorite pair too.
Now I never ride without leathers.
