Sorry guys I was totally being sarcastic.
So you’re rebuilding this one and the dime motor?

im rebuilding the mk8 (dime motor) but needed to get the forged crank that came in the stock 98 motor (mashed ringlands). mk8s have cast cranks. so im putting the two of them together kinda. cop swap from the mk8 and then the mk8 block (both teksid), plus the crank/heads/pan from the cobra.
ring gap pics as requested by an svtp member:

improper ring gap coulda cause this? that sure would make me feel a lot better. .006 vs .019!
I’d like to run this car when it’s back up and driving
Absolutely.
good thing someone at ford decided to totally fuck up the 4th k member bolt at the install. the bolt was literally that tight.
anyways, k member swap is completed. need to get some new ball joints and finish up the coil over swap. im not exaggerating, it bet its 100lbs lighter.
ill call the motor shop on monday to see when it will be done.
any one ever degreed a 4v before? i need a degree wheel and some other oem tools. it sure is intimidating.

135mph or bust!
135… damn.
what makes you so sure a 10 year old car has never had its k member out?
Bc dropping the k member is a pain in the ass. Motor and trans have to come out as well as the rest of the front suspension unless the engine is supported from up top. Just awkward.
Who is doing your machining work for this build? I have a 3L2E mod block out of an 08 that I need decked, torque plate honed, bored, hot tanked etc. Just wondering if you dealt with someone in WNY, and how happy you were with their work.
im currently dealing with a shop here in rochester, i have not gotten anything back yet, but when i do, ill let you know.
still waiting for the motor to get done, so i did some fluff work.
installed the coil overs, and mocked up the whole k member install, just need the steering rack bushings from summit to get that all done. idk if im gunna regret it but im pulling the ac components for now. ill clean up the engine bay for real before installing everything. like i said, just fluff work.
stock k member!

also, dont mind the mess. im doing this on an uncovered patio, ha.
no ac?
ive worked every day since june 1 so that puts a damper on getting things done, but ive managed to get the motor mostly together and doll some things up. everything is pretty much on there now, just need to put the motor back in, break it in on the 3.5" cal and then swap maf’s and retune in the spring. wiseco 9.3 cr pistons, manley rods, mmr cryo treated oil pump, mmr water pump, arp everything. should be good for whatever i throw at it. a few pics from the last two months. trying to have it running by nov 1.
i had to buy all the ford tools to do this. youre supposed to degree em to verify but i just matched up the dots and put it all together.
holy shit doood
Not sure about the DOHC engines, but I timed a SOHC 4.6L without the special Ford tools…LOL
Looks sweeet though.
its 100 bucks for the tool kit that really made me feel a lot better about an investment 50 times more costly so i figured, wtf. ha.
travisn doesnt approve?
UGH, I hate it when people use the last initial. ESPECIALLY when they know me in ‘real’ life
and fuck yes I approve. I can’t wait to actually be able to romp on it in the spring.
p/s truck got a 1.5" lift/level kit and bmw is going away this weekend because the LF caliper is sticking and the idler pulley is squealing. I don’t feel like dealing with either at this point in the year.
haha. very happy i finally have blue valve covers and no ridiculous spark plug wires.
you should replace the bmw with a 99/01 cobra mustang. thats what all the cool guys do.
fixed.
