2009 Formula 1 Season discussion

gotcha

don’t want to ruin any surprises for people that haven’t watched the turkey race yet. But, it is getting kind of boring to keep watching Button win races.

gotta say though, it’s impressive how well their car runs and how great button drives it.

Button has been utterly flawless. He definitely deserves the win, though I was hoping Vettel would challenge more. Oh well, RBR is still having a fantastic year!

he certainly does deserve it

Vettel is a seriously young guy. Driving Formula One at the age of 21? Now that’s sick. He’ll have a sick career if he keeps driving the way he does. I was glad to see him NOT having any accidents(or near misses).

Weber looked good yesterday too. He didn’t get much coverage, but he wasn’t far behind Vettel most of the race. I still conisder Vettel to have taken 2nd place btw…

I agree with both of you. I really wish RBR and Brawn could be a little closer so we could watch a battle like last year’s Ferrari vs. Mclaren war… that was more fun.

Constructor’s and Driver’s standing will most likely stay the same for the rest of the season barring any catastrophe’s…
01 Brawn-Mercedes 96
02 RBR-Renault 56.5
03 Toyota 32.5
04 Ferrari 20
05 McLaren-Mercedes 13

01 Jenson Button 61
02 Rubens Barrichello 35
03 Sebastian Vettel 29
04 Mark Webber 27.5
05 Jarno Trulli 19.5
06 Timo Glock 13
07 Nico Rosberg 11.5
08 Felipe Massa 11

Vettel is just young and is making stupid decisions… First race of the year… had a third place finish but took out kubica, this rpast race should have been second but he lost the position right away to button, and they had to change his pit strategy. Another race he knocked himself out too.

He’ll be a Formula 1 Champion, he just needs to grow up.

I don’t agree that he took Kubica out, but he was penalized and all that, so whatever…

He lost it in Monaco. It happens.

Last race, the idea was to get out ahead (since he was on pole) and make a 3 stopper work. He screwed up, lost P1 and then for whatever reason, the team stuck with a 3 stop strategy. Not a big deal, but I was hoping for a more exciting race.

anyone have an idea of who the drivers they are looking at are?

I think Vettel is just a more aggressive driver than a lot others

i don’t think it’s about making stupid decisions, it just comes with the territory that driving aggressively means you might end up fucking up.

lol, what you think he can just make his car disappear?

He did not take out Kubica.

He took Kubica out… I’m bias  his tires were also shot, kubica was MUCH faster at that time., it was an unnecessary defensive move.

Which cost him 3rd place points. and BMW points :frowning: fucking dickhead

HE WAS DEFENDING A POSITION IN THE FINAL LAPS OF THE RACE. What do you expect him to do? Just move over and let king Kubica through?

:picard:

c’mon dan… you know better than that

defending or not… you know your car is slower… your team knows you are slower… you can’t just dive into a guy to “defend a position” there is an obvious risk.

either way he knocked him self out of 8 points.

and…

Campos, Manor and US F1 - more on the three new teams

any thoughts on how well they will do next year… I hope US F1 does better than force india at least.

i don’t really know what to make of it until we have an idea of driver’s. there is some great experience with management so the potential is there

I would also like to see some info on what chassis they’ll be running. Looks like 2 of the above teams will be running cosworth powerplants at least. Getting a solid vehicle WITH a solid driver is obv. pivotal. So that information would definitely generate some interest on my part.

You can’t just FORCE someone to give you a position by driving down the outside and turning into a car that is clearly on failing tires. Kubica was impatient, period. Get off his (BMW’s) sack he pushed a pass on a car defending a position in a RACE. Vettel did nothing wrong by defending the position, even Heir Schumacher agrees.

Doesn’t matter, FOTA today announced a breakaway series with their 8 members. No one is going to watch F1 with Campos, Epsilon, USF1, Force India and Williams.

Schumacher is a magician with a race car…

So whats with this breakaway series? Pretty much the same as F1 they will just have a different name it seems like.

Basically, yes. I’ll put money on the FIA breaking and begging the teams to come back. No way Mosley will outlast this (one can only dream).

And for those of you wondering what the hell we’re talking about, here is the short version:

"The FIA and the commercial rights holder have campaigned to divide FOTA.

The wishes of the majority of the teams are ignored. Furthermore, tens of millions of dollars have been withheld from many teams by the commercial rights holder, going back as far as 2006. Despite this and the uncompromising environment, FOTA has genuinely sought compromise.

It has become clear however, that the teams cannot continue to compromise on the fundamental values of the sport and have declined to alter their original conditional entries to the 2010 World Championship.

These teams therefore have no alternative other than to commence the preparation for a new Championship which reflects the values of its participants and partners. This series will have transparent governance, one set of regulations, encourage more entrants and listen to the wishes of the fans, including offering lower prices for spectators worldwide, partners and other important stakeholders.

The major drivers, stars, brands, sponsors, promoters and companies historically associated with the highest level of motorsport will all feature in this new series.
