2009 Formula 1 Season discussion

Yeah, stupid fucking Kubica.

<- RBR/STR fan

Kubica is a fool, no wonder he is friends with Alonso.

You don’t squeeze a man who you know is on failing tires who is on a defensive line. The penalty does the sport no good, they were GASP RACING.

I agree. Kubica didn’t need to do that and its terrible they assessed the penalty on Vettel. He had a few laps left where it was clear he could pass him in a “safe” place. It was his to lose. However, it was kinda foolish that the RB car kept driving and that penalty is fair.

Well, the team did tell him to keep driving. The 10 grid spot penalty is not for that, the 10 spot penalty is for the accident with Kubica. The $50k fine is for continuing to drive the damaged car.

“To be honest, Lance Armstrong is an inspiration” Michael Schumacher revealed to the assembled press in Kuala Lumpur this morning where it was announced that the seven time world champion would join the Brawn GP team effective immediately.

As you may know, Schumacher’s contract with Ferrari is up this summer but the German, together with his manager Willi Webber and with full backing of Richard Branson and an ecstatic Bernie Ecclestone , decided this was the right time to reconstitute the all conquering dream team with Ross Brawn.

Perhaps more of a shock to all is that Schumacher will step in in place of Jenson Button, winner of the first race of 2009 in Australia.

“It was important for us to have the old team in place” said the German champion “it just would not be the same without Rubens behind me, we need to write a final chapter of this great novel”. The Brazilian was said to have been moved to tears by the gesture.

There has been no comment yet from either Button or Ferrari’s Luca di Montezemolo, both are sure to consider legal action.

OMGZ!

Right. I’m confused, did I say otherwise? :gotme:

OMG!! Schumacher cannot leave Ferrari!!! That’s like Rick Waggoner leaving G… oh wait…I mean that’s like Jesus saying he is Jewish.

April 1, son!

And for real news…

FIA to re-open Hamilton/Trulli inquiry

By Adam Cooper and Simon Strang Wednesday, April 1st 2009, 18:49 GMT

Lewis Hamilton, Jarno Trulli during the Australian GPLewis Hamilton is to be summoned before the FIA stewards on Thursday afternoon in Sepang in order to clarify why Jarno Trulli passed him under safety car conditions in Australia, AUTOSPORT has learned.

An FIA spokesman has confirmed that stewards from the Australian Grand Prix will reconvene to evaluate further evidence not available at the time of the initial inquiry - which took place after the race last weekend.

Hamilton was promoted to third place in the results after Trulli was concluded to have passed him under safety car conditions, on lap 57, and was given a 25s penalty that dropped him from third to 12th.

However, if Hamilton is deemed not to have provided all the details of the incident in the initial inquiry, he may face sanctions. While Trulli could be reinstated to third place in the Melbourne results, despite Toyota dropping its appeal.

Over the past few days, the FIA is believed to have unearthed new evidence including its recording of the McLaren radio conversations, which were not being monitored live and thus played no part in the original inquiry.

Hamilton passed Trulli when the Toyota driver slid off at the penultimate corner but the pair swapped positions later in the lap.

The recording allegedly provides fresh insight into the matter and the stewards want to check if it aligns with Hamilton’s version of events.

Hamilton was quoted by SpeedTV as saying: “I was behind Trulli under the safety car, and clearly you’re not allowed to overtake under the safety car. But he went off in the second to last corner, he went wide on the grass, I guess his tyres were cold. And I was forced to go by. I slowed down as much as I could. I was told to let him back past, but I mean… I don’t know if that’s the regulations, and if it isn’t, then I should have really had third.”

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh told the BBC after the Australian Grand Prix: "At the end, under the safety car, Trulli fell off onto the grass and Lewis had no choice but to go past him, he was not on the racing circuit.

“Trulli then re-took the place under the safety car, which ordinarily you wouldn’t do so I know that the FIA are looking at it at the moment and doubtless we’ll have a ruling in due course,” he added.

Trulli said that Hamilton was so slow that he appeared to be in trouble.

“When the safety car came out towards the end of the race Lewis Hamilton passed me but soon after he suddenly slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road,” said the Italian.

“I thought he had a problem so I overtook him as there was nothing else I could do.”

It does sound like anything really bad happened… Just a misunderstanding… as much as a hate Lewis Hamilton

Nah, I just havent slept in days and am completely nonsensical.

Hamilton DQ’d and McLaren loses Constructors points for lying to Stewards over Trulli incident

here is the story

lol it just gets better and better. I wonder if this drama will continue all year.

the drama for me is will they even race in North America next year?

While the loss of Montreal is kind of gay, the loss of the USGP doesn’t bother me at all. Indy is a terrible track to watch any race on and unfortunately probably the only track in the US that is deemed worthy by f1.

I think he’s referring to the rumors of Montreal replacing Abu Dhabi in the fall.

I have been to three USGP and it is a hard track to watch a race at, although not as bad as Inf inion. I do hate Indianapolis (prejudice from being from Chicago)

I would like to see them at Road America, will never happen but that would be a good American style road coarse for them.

since it sometimes turns from a race into a panty party my guess is yes.

I’m watching the friday practice right now and it doesn’t seem much different from Australia, the big boys aren’t leading the time charts

^ isn’t part of that due to the rear wing setup still and will take a couple weeks to change to the braun style.

I think the Brawn setup is much more than just the diffuser. Sure they said they get a .5 second out of it. But there was NO touching Button last race, It didn’t even look like he was trying
