200hp Na Ka24e ?

the only thing that is terrible about the sr is rocker arms…but its all good

Yeah SR FTW…08 was my first year having one and ive had no problems with it…attended every track day there was…

One thing I have to say is that the SR is by no means the best motor in the world. But it’s definitely the best bang for your buck for a 240sx in terms of more power, ease of swap, and reliability.

Anyways, a 200hp na Ka24e is not worth the money.

My SR also takes a beating, been to the track a whole bunch of times this year and never worried once about blowing my motor. I’m still expecting my motor to blow after all it’s been through but I guess it doesn’t want to go yet.

why do u state SOHC Dan, any advantage to that?

I remember back in the 70’s or so, that infamous Silvia that beat Toyota, Mazda, etc…all those Jap greats in the Motorsport events in Japan (Formula Silhouette) being one, it was running on some Turbo’d block…I thought it was SOHC but it’s a DOHC block 4Valve Design. It’s still monstrous when they have historic runs on it, and pulls like a bat out of hell…haha.

On the ball. At shannonville in the summer between events 4 and 5 vlad’s butterfly bolt snapped and flew into the throttle body because of a design flaw in the shape of the Greddy Intake manifoldhe had purchase for his setup. Later in the season, Hideki of Team Toyo verified that there was a recall in japan for Greddy SR manifolds.

That SR was running strong at the time on an all stock block. And after doing events 5 and 6 on his “new” block from U2n its still running fine as it sits for the winter season.

super charge it…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rik0ywv1UM

^^

That motor you’re thinking of is the LZ20B or something like that, the predessecor of the FJ series.

^ ya bro, I found it out, pretty sweet Oldschool motor to drop in, mod and ripp eh

Here’s a yank vid I just found on a KA-T/SR powered 240s racing on the highways, looks pretty homebrewed lol.

omg NA KA24 SPLOOGE!

its good to see all these ideas and opinions from every1, it was good to read all of them … i jus kinda got interested into the topic because i myself never knew about it and i thought it wudve been a cheaper way of gainin more hp rather than swapping an sr … i think the only time id swap an sr now would be into a s14 cuz my 1990 240sx is NOT EVEN WORTH putting anything powerful than the ka24e … jus the condition shes in … like the body, id give her 95% rust free, jus some small spots here and there … but the frame rails, FUCK LOL … jus 2 weeks ago, i was changing to my winter tires and placed the jack underneath the frame rail passenger … i cranked away … fuk 20 secs later all i see is the car fall about an inch … n im like SHIT, i made a hole in my frame rail … damn car is a rust bucket man, shes nice in looks n the stock ka24e is good to drive with but to put performance parts into her like an SR wudnt be worth it … if she was rust free etc then by all means lol

i want to save up some cash so by lets say, april or may, ill buy an s14 (hopefully rust free) with black on black leather interior, probly an SE cuz i want 5 bolt pattern, 5 speed obviously and thats it n go from there … im lookin around $4000-$5000 … gotta check the red book value for the 1995’s n 1996’s just to be sure on how much they are ACTUALLY worth but from what ive seen on Kijiji and Craig’s list and Autotrader, price range is from $4500-$6500 so its not bad … then id part out my s13 cuz i have some parts for it as well as some Megan Racing suspension parts still lying around in boxes not used … only thing against us is time lol

BTW, the “frame rails” aren’t jacking points. Try the front x-member and the rear-end.

well i did, AFTER THE FACT LOL … i put the jack onto my lower control arm (which was SOLID) and jacked my car there for the front end … well at least i kno what condition my frame rails are … they dont look good at all, on the surface yes but im glad i made that hole because i saw the extent of the rust on how much it penetrated into the rail itself … n this is right before the “bend” of the rail on the front end on the bottom … jus sucks lol … thats one thing i dont like about 240’s, they’re rust buckets man … like if the door panels and fenders were made from FRP material instead of shitty, rust proned metal then fuck there would be A LOT MORE good condition 240’s out there

You will never EVER find that motor lying around RED_LINE. Neither will you find supporting mods lol. Or even a gasket kit. It was a hybrid engine pieced together from a few different L series motors IIRC. It was not a production motor.
