A good pair of tinted goggles is a must out here in UT; between the sun glare during the day, the lack of contrast riding under the lights at night, and the riding through the clouds in the AM it’s the only way to be able to see at all. Hell, I’ve taken some warm-up runs in the AM where I literally can’t see the board at my feet because the clouds are so dense that you’re riding through; now THAT is scary as shit.
As for the beat-up trails; does the same thing out here. The weekends the best riding is in the am till about 1-2pm; after that it’s completely hit-or-miss depending on the conditions and volume of people. This also depends on the resort. Park City Resort gets pretty ragged (for out here) in the afternoons, Brighton I can ride all day/night and it’s still awesome conditions (similar to the best days at HV are “typical” out here).
Well, weather is supposed to change tonight… Below freezing temps for all the ski resorts at night for the foreseeable future; highs in the low/mid 40’s at the base lodges during the day time.
Just about time to dig everything out and get things prepped.
Anyone ever heard of or use one of these Helmets? I almost always ride with my face covered so this looks a lot nicer/easier than the neoprene face things.
Picked up a pair of Burton ION boots this weekend. Just need to tune up my board and wait for snow. They’re calling for snow at the resorts tomorrow and Friday in the short-term forecast; and most of the resorts are targeting 2-4 weeks to opening day.
Do you want to help me move my company to Utah with your local knowledge? Not really but damn I want to move there. Are there a lot of Romney bumper stickers? lol
JUST SPOTTED: What appeared to be a brand spankin new Sno-cat on trailer in the Kissing Bridge parking lot.
Side topic - It’s a cool place to live, but we’ve (Wife and I) got a 4-6 year plan to be here then GTFO. Religion is WAY to in-bed with government here, worse than the Unions and Special Interest’s are in NY. Hell, I’ve heard many of story that in a lot of neighborhoods the Mormons won’t let their kids play with non-mormon kids… don’t want to expose them to anything else, they may start to think for themselves during the brainwashing period. Plus the liquor laws… ekk; they’re getting better, but still. We’re probably going to grab a condo in Park City before we leave so we can come back in winter though, the boarding/skiing is just too epic here.
This guy here won 1st place for Holiday Valleys Fall Foliage Photo contest. I win a Drift HD video camera and $50 towards Holiday Valley. (works out perfect for the end of the year with our massive Employee discount)
photo that one it. This is from failbucket and not full sized obviously.
I’m going Sunday… We’re supposed to get hit down here in the valley pretty bad on Fri/Sat/into Sunday; which means the resorts are going to get POUNDED.
