Cool. What does his car weigh and what tires was that on?
Any idea how many miles/passes are on the rods?
I think Paul was saying the motor has 200 miles and if I recall correctly from Dave’s thread on evom the motor has 10 passes on it tops.
that seems like a motor ready to make some serious power! idk why but i just cant imagine using alum rods on anything but an all out drag car that gets rebuilt yearly
Motor has 100 miles on it of track/dyno time. His car weighs around 150 less than mine and he used motorcycle slicks
Dope
Sounds good.
Hot Damn. Nice
dave has finished my original long rod motor and is now up for sale for anyone with a 4G63 that wants to go fast its just the bottom end for sale
this is a steel rod motor, it has BR spec steel rods and BR spec JE Tough Skirt Coated Forged Pistons. it will handle anything you throw at it.
price is $3050 with a good block/crank
I dunno much about Evos but it seems that the price on your built motor isnt too bad.
His car made 800 hp though, at like 45 psi on that turbo
I’d say great deal but the only thing I dislike about that motor is the aluminum rods.
They are great for performance but I would dislike checking every season if/when the rods began to stretch.
+1 I’d hate replacing those every winter or sooner. I’d never put them in a street car.
no need, i wont be doing either of those. i aint skurred, ive been over this numerous times with david and has no concerns at all about aluminum rods. he just tore apart a motor that had 10k+ on alum rods and had no signs of stretch at all, motor was never checked prior.
Out of curiosity, is there any proof that they stretch? I believe the tensile strength of aluminum is as much as steel.
bing, bang, BEWM the motor is done! heading down friday to pick up the beast. motor/trans will be back in the car saturday, gonna be A LOT of progress this weekend.
ill spectate
I actually retract my statement about rod stretch.
Maybe they do on v8’s but after a chat with Emery@STM today he enlightened me about the weight of an evo piston weighing next to nothing - Which makes a ton of sense to me.
Enjoy the motor!
motor is home!
its on the cherry picker now, i will be bolting on the clutch/trans on tomorrow then dropping the new powerplant in.
lots of updates tomorrow night hopefully
Awesome! Can you take a lot of pix please
