sure thing!
got way further than i imagined, i stayed out there once ken left and got quite a bit more done. should be pretty close tomorrow, just have to order a few things and get my fluids during the week. i hope to start the car next weekend…

new heart in the car
intake manifold and fuel rail back on:
gotta represent the best:
thats how i left it for tonight, more progress to come tomorrow…
Awesome progress
Awsome job paul very organized and real clean.
looks like its coming together quickly
getting there a ton more progress today, car is 90% complete. needs fluids, gotta put my downpipe on, modify my catchcan and my throttle body cable and wire in my boost controller!

sure do, cant beat results!
Nice job, I like the pace of this project!
Do you drop the engine in or do you drop the car on the engine?
either way works, i pull/put in through the top. just gotta have a crazy angle on the motor so the tranny clears.
im gonna work on it today again and get all the fluids in the car and bleed my clutch. probably put my exhaust back on too… hopefully my MAP sensor adapter comes in before the weekend so i can fire it up and make sure everything is good.
IT LIVES!!! ken took a vid with his phone, so once he uploads it ill post it.
car needs a tune BAD, i think i already fouled out the plugs lol. car ran for about 5 minutes then just died, fires a little but wont fully kick over.
I’m glad I was there to hear it fire! Loud doesn’t begin to describe it! I shot a small video, Ken’s might be better though.
Horrible sound quality.
I am so envious that yours is already running. I will be glad if mine runs at all this year.
I’m glad it’s running, but if it’s so rich that it fouled the plugs out in 5 minutes, shut off and won’t run anymore, you very well could have destroyed the rings. With that much gas in the cylinders the walls can get washed down so the oil can’t protect the rings.
This engine is nothing like the stock one and big tuning changes will need to be made for it to run properly at idle and everywhere else.
What was your wideband reading while it was idling?
EDIT: I’m guessing you have more aggressive cams now. That would reduce idle vacuum and put you in a higher load area of the fuel map since you’re on a speed density tune. This would cause more fuel to be injected at idle, making the car run very rich at idle until this is adjusted. Under load it would likely run lean due to the increase in VE the better cams and ported head should provide.
I’d clear the engine out, change the oil, and let it sit until you’re ready to tune it.
I highly doubt that there was any damage done to the rings. there was zero load and the motor is already broken in and heat cycled from the previous owner. If there were to be ring issues the previous owner is the one that fucked up. I have yet to EVER see a motor have ring sealing issues from runnin rich.
car should be mean this year, who will be the first to trap 150+??? im 1mph away, i dont think im gunna change anything on my car realy except maybe put it on a diet.
agreed! i know what youre saying though mike, i know what im doin lol
i have no idea what the car was idling at, i just checked the to make sure the car had oil pressure and had no leaks… BUT it is very rich.
