2012-2013 Ski/Snowboard Thread!

yeah that was like 2 years ago lol. i might have been still skiing. the previous times i went with newman i don’t think i knew you yet…
the only time i can go to HV tho is if i leave work early which i don’t really like to do, and it’s too expensive to go on the weekend, especially since i have a pass for kb. kb isn’t super sweet, but i just want somewhere to ride

KB swap meet? Parking lot had much cars when I drove by on the way home from work.

Any instructors want a few bucks or split a bogo/Thurs nite special for a refresher? I’ve got 4-5 days on the snow since I was a ski instructor at KB in high school, that’s almost 15yrs ago… I have lousy upper body habits.

I can see what I can work out for you to make the day happen. I teach at Holiday Valley. Just keep me posted when you are free if you are interested. I’ll post here when it becomes good enough conditions for learning.

Edit: If you are wondering how I teach, you can talk with 97Formulaws-6.

First resort opens tomorrow here in UT. 46" base from the storm this weekend!

Now… can I pull off playing hookie or do I save my vacation days for a true Pow day… hmm…

LMAO!

Just picked up my board from the shop for a tune up. Asked about a replacement/new board, what would be comparable, etc to my Dark Series… they’re response “Another Dark Series”. They guy did show me another board that I may pick up, another Lib Tech. But his comment that got me dying… “Yea this is a little softer than the Dark Series, but it will still give you the response but be a little bit more forgiving. The Dark Series you really don’t want to ride with a hangover, it’ll just twitch, grab, and fuck you up!” LOL. This is even better hearing this out here in UT, where alcohol is a sin; although it was at a board shop.

Note - Another 6-14" of base snow (heavy wet, like you east-coasters always get) out here in UT… hopefully this keeps up as this might end up being a decent year knocks on wood.

Roughly 1/2-3/4 of the resorts are open here in the SLC area; although limited terrain/lifts.

So what are the thoughts here. Which color to go with?

I’m about to get new bindings for my Flow snowboard which I’m going to get Flux DS30’s

These are my options.

lol, I’ll get right on that.

Well, 90/10 that tomorrow will be my first day out this season. I’ll be sure to post pictures to torture Yamba6!

Truck has the Box on the roof, Board is loaded; bag of equipment is ready; and the rain has started here in the valley (which means snow at the resorts); latest forecast says 6-12" tonight.

Screw you!!! 50s the past 2 days suck! What fucking winter again we will have.

Does anyone with serious knowledge on the subject of climate and meteorology actually have any idea what this winter may bring to us, snow wise?

Any of you guys ever do Jackson Hole?

Looking into a last minute trip around Christmas time and was wondering if any anyone had any first hand experience, particularly that time of year. Ive only been to Tahoe out west for comparison.

All I know is you should plan the trip. Jackson Hole from my understanding is one of the greatest places to go to in the US for skiing/snowboarding. Just make sure to get a pair of goggles :slap:

I have been to Jackson 3 times if that tells you anything. I have been to many places out west but Jackson is my favorite because of the level of terrain. I have never been to Jackson that early in the season though so I am not sure what you are in for. I do get the report everyday and they have gotten more than 6 feet already which may seem like a lot but…

Jackson has a lot of expert skiing which is tough enough with tons of snow, once it is skied-out and sun baked it gets brutal because it is not groomed. You can usually find good stashes but getting to them can be exhausting.
