2015 Mustang (the new detroit war isn't all about horsepower)

The fact that Ford didn’t downsize the exterior dimensions means that the average customer of the Mustang would rather have interior room and does not care about weight. See the success of the 4,000 lb. automatic only Dodge Challenger. That is the Mustang demographic.

Automatic only? Since when does the Mustang go chasing Challenger sales?

Yes, automatic only: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/lightning-lap-2008-feature-ll2-2008-dodge-challenger-srt8-page-14 Looks like they have added a manual since, but they could sell them then, and they’ll sell them now. If there was no Challenger then the Camaro or Mustang would would pick up their share of those 5,748 buyers. That is the target demographic. That demographic is happy with 3,700 to 4,000+ pound car.

There are a lot of track capable cars produced by the US and abroad that are sub $35k

That article you quoted was from '08, lol.

No shit, really? I just shows how memorable the short comings of “muscle” cars are.

Every Challenger sold in 2008 was a sales loss for the Mustang. And Dodge could sell 4,000 lb automatic only cars.

My point was that you try to post like you REALLY KNOW the cars inside and out, and you don’t know shit about each model. The “automatic only” post you made was trying to make a business case for a particular optioned car claiming that they only came with an auto. They had a supply issue with the stick iirc. You say that each Dodge Challenger sold is another Mustang that could have been sold. Do you realize that Dodge’s share is shrinking? They are in 3rd, and always have been, always will be. Don’t even reply.

You are correct, I don’t know shit, that is why almost every post I make has a link of where I got the information from.

I replied, are you going to take away my birthday now?

Again, you don’t know shit. The '08 Challenger was an abbreviated model. Not a full year run. Only SRT8’s were built. Dodge made a concept car a few years prior, and everyone LOVED it. They got the green light and scrambled to make the car as quickly as possible. They never intended it to be automatic only, everybody knew that (well, except you). The first few thousand had auto’s because of a supply issue (going off of memory here), and the plant wasn’t up to speed. The cars were available as pre-order and they sold right out. Dodge had to bang them out as fast as they could.

Again, you don’t know shit. [/QUOTE]

Wait, I was agreeing with you, so now that you quoted me saying I don’t know shit, and you said I don’t know shit about not knowing shit is that now a double negative? So I do know shit?

This has got to be the dumbest argument in this fucking thread. Cars now days are fucking huge, it’s the world we live in. Too many mandates and regulations, not to mention overweight people too. Oh, and good luck finding a true sports car for sub 35,000 these days. Even the Evo/STI START at 35k before taxes. This 2015 mustang, in my opinion, looks terrible and I’d never buy one. But the 660+ hp current gt500. Yes please

I understand the power added in which is a nice touch, but not everyone cares for it. I wish Chevy could revamp the sky/solstice and put some years into actually perfecting the car and making a nice product. They aren’t bad looking cars but they definitely aren’t anything to cry home about. I got to drive one for a short bit and found the standard trans shifter to be horribly designed and tight on your hand to which I bashed a knuckle.

With the way the government is making it these days requiring all cars have stability control and traction control and many other safety features with crash testing, it’s why prices are sky rocketing on vehicles these days. You should be forced to buy stability and traction control. All the electronics becoming more and more and on every model, it’s not all needed for some.

^ I’ve been saying this for years. They should make an option with the most limited safety controls as possible. Just two airbags, no traction control or abs, etc… sell it much cheaper I bet it would sell like crazy.

If you want safety let the consumer make the choice. Buy a Volvo.

Yea thats not happening.

They just mandated a rear view camera on all vehicles by a 2018

Lets just start restoring cheap 80s cars to like new condition for ~15K and sell them. Who wouldn’t want a nice 1988 caprice with a nice 5.3L 4l60e getting 20+ mpg and bad ass.

Hell yeah, literally any Gbody is pretty sweet looking.

Can start a business buying southern cars, restoring them to “like new” condition… then do engine swaps for more modern power.

I’ve honestly thought about it.

I think I like the new Mustang better then the new Camaro. This observation makes me sad.

It’s already a big thing

Lots of shops swap new 5.3/6.0 GM motors into older Camaros, C10s, etc same thing with people swapping the new 5.0 coyote motor into ford sutff.

Get my hands a Datsun 240 or 280 and drop a 370z motor in it. (not sure how it fits just thinking how fun it’d be)
