I highly doubt it will fail with out a cat doing a hot rod e test.
Why dont you try and if it fails, get a cat. Its an extra $17 for a re test.

you may need paper work unless you know someone,pending your location i could get it done for ya.and the car needs to have a motor that wasnt offered in the car,also has to be pre 2000
Hot rod is a category for kit cars or cars with swapped motors not available for that model of vehicle. It raises the limits crazy high. So basically if you have a car that fails hot rod…it has some major issues. Some places will give you a hard time proving it is a hot rod. Others have no problem.
On another note. If a drive clean inspector looks under your car and sees you have no cat, they will fail it automatically.
I love hot rod e-tests. My RB25, tuned with an safc to dump enough fuel for 20psi of boost, passed catless on hod rod, as did my old SR. You should be just fine, as long as the car doesn’t run like a pile. Most places will just bring up your car on their system, and see that it was only offered with a 2.4L 4 cyl, and therefore have no problem with hot rodding it. Also, I’ve never had a drive clean inspector look under my car. Just sayin. One guy asked if I had a cat, I just told him yeah.

they never looked under your car cuz they weren’t doing their job right. when i used to do drive cleans my boss would fuckin snap if i never checked for one…that, and exhaust leaks.
what about not having an o2 sensors would that fuck me over
whats the price for the hot rod e test? i got a ka24det, hoping it passes next year, but if not u guys think i can get away with saying that it’s swapped or some shit?
if they know their stuff you won’t get away with running it as a hot rod. And the price is the same. good luck.
Hotrod E testing is no longer an option for a swapped car, the car must be passed for the year it was manufactured regardless of what motor is in it. Ive used this method for years up until a few months ago and went threw the emissions machine manual/rulebook with my mechanic.
On the positive side displacement is not the biggest factor in passing its the condition of emissions equipment on your car and that its in healthy running condition.
