240sx Convertable Transmission

Hey, I got a 240sx Convertable auto. I just bought a new one that is just dieing for the sr20 swap. However I drive the car daily and the tranny just went on me so I must replace it with another auto tranny at the moment.

My question is…

Are the tranny’s from a hatch/coupe any different from a convertable? are they interchangeable? Recently just got into 240s so I know very little.

Anyone with an answer, please do tell.

Thankyou for time and answers much appreciated.

The transmissions should be identical as there is no differance whatsoever between the transmission in the FSM’s. I have the factory service manual for the s13 and the only addition in the convertible “supplement” is the extra hardware for the auto top and some small things around the vehicle.

However if your question is whether or not you can use the KA transmission on the SR i don’t think so as i’m pretty sure the bell housings are differant.

Hope that answers your question!

The transmissions are identical. If you need one, I have one stored in the basement, just taking up space. I would LOVE to give it away for a very very low price. It was recently rebuilt, and I have the papers to prove it. There is a new torque converter too. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you don’t have the funds for a PROPER SR swap, don’t do it. Save up. If you need an auto in the meantime, let me know.

Not to go against myself, but why not do a 5 spd. swap? That is what I did.

Yeah… tranny’s are identical.

now that you’ve got that sorted… you should probably google how to spell ‘convertible’.
