I agree 100%, I was just merely picking at the Assault Weapon comment. I <3 my AR too but I won’t pretend that it wasnt a military designed rifle I own, that’s half the reason I like it and it’s such a great gun.

The assault weapon definition will always be twisted but the clear cut thing is if it cannot fire off multiple rounds with a single trigger movement as well as have semi auto capabilities, then it’s not an assault weapon. Thus the AR15. Machine guns are full auto 100% but still get classed into assault weapons. Technicalities.

Just saying , myself and my dad have used a .223 for dear . I’m very confident in my aim and have never had to shoot more than once to drop . My father was army , ranger to be exact , my cousin marine also special forces uses a .22 for close proximity shoots cause while close and in the right spot a .22 will destroy shit cause it ain’t got the power to go thru a human. Just read this tidbit of info on CNN:

Not only that, but if you’re a cop and you thing a gun is involved with some crime, you don’t exactly just bring it back to where you bought it. Aren’t cops supposed to be keeping “illegal” guns off streets? Not putting them back on.

I wasn’t going to weigh in on this thread. I am part of the minority with my “liberal” thoughts of gun safety on this forum. I understand a few points that have been made about assault rifles and have learned some good things with this thread.
