300zx Project

the two words to justify something completely illogical in the car world, normally followed by a project that is never finished.

OUCH PWN HaHa. soooo ahhh josh will we get to at least see one z on the trck this year ?

I look at it as one of those things that may wind up under a tarp in the garage.

I would rather have it there in my posession than have someone else owning it.

I dont owe anything on it…dont need the $ that I would get from selling it.

Just planning to take my time and do a slow restoration of the car.

Myself

Tell me you forgot all those races that I won between us?

I was on 5 cylinders

I am a nissan humper and i say LS1…

I wish i had fab skillz instead of having to buy everything in a kit

Stop putting that thought in his head and go put a 4th leaf on that clover in your sig so it makes more sense

Gen 1 sbc and a turbo 350 fit in anything.

Take your time, and find a nice, original, low mileage TT engine for it. You’re in no rush anyways, and you’ll be happier in the end I think…

I just hate buying 2 of EVERYTHING…its ridiculous.

VG, because i know if you pick something else it wont get done

your $7-$10K budget will go a LOT further sticking with the stock motor…and you know it well…i don’t see why you’d go either of the two other routes. Even if you’re stuck going with a shady JDM motor, with that budget and with the fact that you have no real timeline as to when you want to have this done by, just buy a beat JDM motor and buy an engine rebuild kit for it…$2500 and you’ve got a good as new motor. Makes the most sense to me…plus you’ll have plenty of money left over for all the basic bolt on’s and maybe a next size up turbo upgrade…just don’t go crazy with it like you did last time.

i wouldn’t be too anal about finding a low miles clean engine because even low miles can have problems…i’d rather find a cheap beat motor and just build it that way you’re 100% certain of what it has…do it yourself so you know it’s done right, don’t take somebody’s word that the motor is good, no matter how reputable the company or person you get it from.

Build a motor, you already have intake and exhaust, JWT sport 500’s and Nismo 555’s, Ash reflash, and you’re good to go making a reliable 400-450whp all day for WELL under $10K EASILY…

It’s funny how people love the idea of newman putting a rb into his e30 but the thought of putting an LS1 into anything is sacrilegious.

+1

So we can all drink cheap, admire the bartender, and talk about all our cars that’ll never be finished…

ls1. thats what the messiah would really do.

If this was a car that I was keeping forever, I’d throw in something different like the rb. But if it was a car that I wanted to have fun in for a summer and get something new, I’d just go stock. Either way I don’t think you can go wrong.

I don’t feel that way, completely. They fit great into RX7’s, and even though I’m partial to the rotary, it’s a great powerplant for that chassis.

ive never heard of a reliable 450wheel car thats turbo.

what happened to your car?

if done right it can be easily reliable with that little power…these cars can make way more…build it to take 550whp, only run enough boost for 450whp…avoid problems by never pushing it.

my car blew because an oil line went and it dried up on me…stupid freak accident that takes no credibility away from the strength of these motors…rest assured it’ll be back…maybe Kyle and I can have a similar contest to get done like mpd and newman lol
