We’re only a few hours from NYC and what would Amtrak be considered to you? What type of local race track are you referring to?
I want to move
anywhere you will ever live will get old and be the same as the place u lived before, only way to be happy is to become a gypsy…proven fact
nismo- if you think people here are generally impolite, disrespectful and rude then you got a lot to see when you venture to any large city… some people down there just have no respect at allll
Exactly.
Kramer sell me or even other residents the city as if you get commission on the deal, and all the wonderful benefits that come with the lifestyle.
wow what a stoner
I agree! When you have lived here 33 years you tend to witness profound change in one’s area… :Idiots NYC attitude is now Albany attitude… Thats what I don’t dig.
It would be awesome to have a Watkins Glen, Limerock or V.I.R in our own backyard! I prefer the Glen but its a four fuckin hour drive one way.
Amtrak is snail-rail. Sure we have been approved funding for a high speed rail. We’ll see what happens in the future I guess.
We’re the capital of NY! We should have a Pro team!. But nope, were smallbany. :banghead
When you travel to the gulf coast area or midwest or even the south people are so much more pleasant.
The only states I would consider in no particular order without being to any of them are quite typical. AZ, NC, CA and or Utah.
For me it would be… TN, NC, MI, KY and possibly VA.
I hope you don’t drive on WGI like you do TO WGI. WGI is a 3hr trip, all day long. I’ll double check tomorrow.
Also, a lot of states’ capitals don’t have pro teams. Tallahassee, Austin, Lansing, Madison, Baton Rouge, Raleigh, Columbus… I’m just listing cities in states that have pro teams, off the top of my head.
So the people that want to move seem to more unhappy with the state rather than area, logically everybody likes the area of the state, just not the state itself.
Reasons to move typically include weather, taxes and property value?
I’m sure its not 4 hours. lol My last trip was 4+ hrs home on a donut. Broke a bead & couldn’t find a shop open on the weekend to repair it.
We have all seen how crooked the government here is in NY! I’ll say Cuomo has my approval. At least he leads by example. Unless someone digs up dirt on him to.
Now if only this state can become fiscally responsible!.. People just may move back to NY and slow the bleeding. The state continues to hemorrhage people & businesses. Which in turns seems to be sending our taxes through the roof. No one wants to fix the real problems. Just band-aid them. The population see’s this and exits as soon as conveniently possibly. Or in many cases, let just get the fuck out!
If you sell your house here, you can move to a state/market where housing is half the cost or more for the same house else where’s with lower taxes. This is an option for people who can find work in their fields. Not as easily done with white collar workers.
I well understand that every state will have people that hate living there, but for fun I looked up some states, didn’t even bother with CA as I didn’t want to overload google with results
AZ

Sounds like some liberal smuck to me.
If you can make it in NY you can make it anywhere. Which is why Im going to move and make bank
It seems like you’re taking this discussion personally, I’m just saying the advantages of living in a city (you’re the one asking questions) and you just seem to reiterate the point that you think the city is too expensive and crowded. That’s your opinion, mine is mine, let’s leave it at that.
Well more expensive is a fact not an an opinion, so is more crowded.
The fact that I don’t like crowded places or paying more is my personal opinion.
And no I’m not taking it personally I’m just looking for legitimate reason as to why living in the city is better, than living in the suburbs withing driving distance without the weasel “because it’s the city and you have to be here”
So far I learned that it’s a convenience of visiting sporting and music events.
This is why you cant have a discussion with Vlad. :lol :zip
Re: expensive - income is commensurate with price indices. So yes things are more expensive, but you are paid more so it’s a wash.
You really want to use that as an argument? Even you know that’s a stretch.
While yes there are some very high paying jobs in the city which are not bothered by the inflated prices, unless the minimum wage there is doubled and people get paid double for doing average jobs in the boroughs it still doesn’t cover universally expensive rent/real estate, bar prices and commodities such as cigarettes.
That’s like saying, tax in NY state is fine because we don’t get hit by recession as much and have a decent job market.
