here is some lapping at DDT …on old shit tires that would not hook up…passing only allowed on 2 straights
still was fun however…
sweet ride!! is that street driven? i love the idea of a V8 in S/Z cars…ever since i saw chris forsbergs VK56 z33 at DMCC a few years back. the LSx engines are proven powerplants and are just as awesome just look at all the fast late model camaros/firebirds. the ls7 is incredible, titanium internals, dry sump oiling and 7000+ RPM…the thing is derrived from GM racing technology!
how do you feel about the sunroof in terms of circuit racing performance? as my car has on aswell.
lol omg was that an old school volvo hatch haha!
BADASS!! You’re da man bro, living da dream haha I am still just dreaming of swapping in the v8 Some day soon enough hehe…
What happened to the epic front wing Running just a splitter now? Any changes to the car yet since last time? And man oh man ddt is so small but sooooo fun!!!
Edit: Hey have you considered getting or making drop spindles? Get the geometry in order while being low… less roll… and then run softer springs for more grip and or also consider getting different/better valved dampers? If I recall last time you said you ran 10/10 with teins? My 11/8 koni setup is drivable on the street and quite comfy lol… haven’t been in your car but from what I gather from most tein dampers and japanese dampers in general is that they seem to have too much compression dampening… these are digressive, so they fall off a bit and don’t spike like most linear jdm coilovers… although i hope to revalve them for some more low compression and even less high compression… where i’ve set them at now seems okay though… just another thought if you want to try to improve grip/traction. My rates are a bit much as is lol… i need bigger grippier tires
A couple of guys in the states got the drop spindles (made by driftworks (they copied sp-tec from japan)). The same thing is on the fastest s chassis car on tsukuba The scorch s15. Basically 2" drop if i recall with geometry unaffected. Totally noticable obviously lesser body roll and lesser fuckup of bumpsteer, basically better operating suspension and increased grip/traction.
Also s14 rear subframe swap (spl now sells offset solid subframe bushings). Just need to get solid diff bushings as well (as thats how s14 subframe is) and an s14 diff cover. All those that swapped over also reported better car drivability (‘feeling more like a normal car’ lol) and better rear traction/grip from a standstill as well as through the corners. The s14 subframe has alot less anti-squat unlike the s13 subframe.
These are two things I plan to do for sure… do consider them I am sure it would greatly benefit you with all that torque!
yeah they banned the front wing in the series now…so I did not get a real chnace to play with it
I will look into that drop spindle product
I really just need some new bushings and fresh tires I think to get it back up to par
These are what I was talking about fyi… I’m sure you could fab something up. The only downside is they do not come with spherical bushings… stupid polyurethane… rear upright spherical bushings make alot of difference… and oh yeah they do not offer a z32 shock mount as I am currently with z32 uprights (boo…) but other than that good stuff…:
Weight is same as stock if not slightly lighter, can’t remember now… they did get weighed… but not as significant as z32 ones which are like 8lbs a corner (ridiculous savings, aluminum)
yeah I looked at those…
I think a fresh set of tires will do wonders…At calabogie with fresh tires was in the top 3 times at nationals…and teh car felt very good handling wise
what is ur header clearance with respect to the steering column with ur hinson headers?
I was looking at the sikky kit.
You will be punished on time attack day! No wait…the two nissans will punish the FC
Not that i have it, but from all the reading i’ve done on the hinson kit… is that it’s of poorer quality/fitment/and will definetely require some modification.
The sikky kit is bolt in… pricey but worth it for what you get compared to other kits. For all v8 questions i would go to silviav8forums.com they’re awesome! So many cool project builds! I’ll most likely start sourcing parts next year for my swap… the KA will stay alive until then haha… finally… Since I can’t fab up my own custom stuff I’m going to go with the sikky kit most likely.
yea i have a buddy with sikky kit, it didn’t look like a lot of clearance. Which is fine for grip, but i drift also. So i would like to have some decent clearance.
pics would help. I’ve scoped the forums you’ve mentioned very often. This topic doesn’t come up much there.
I’m not sure how the steering shaft would change with drifting? The angle of the wheels would be more so hindered by inner clearance of sheet metal, tie rods, stuff like that no? If you posted a picture of what you mean I’m sure I could get a better idea and as would people on that site. Angle of tire would be at the tire not the shaft itself :-/ Shaft itself is from steering column to steering rack which is fixed. I am not sure I understood what you meant though. I do know what you mean though that most of the kits hinson included had header issues touching the steering column shaft… however again I am not sure how that would change by drifting?? They’ve had an s chassis drift car (sikky) as well as a 350z for that matter both LS powered.
all the lock to lock movements when drifting put extra play in the steering column. So some extra space would be key, to prevent it from tapping the header while spinning.
I dunno how to explain better then that.
ah… yeah my aluminum rack bushings (not column s13 one but actual rack ones from yanack) have worn out in the last 2 years… its so bad my rack actually moves around now… So I think I get your point… that could make sense… However still as far as i know the sikky drift car didn’t have issues… but I see what you mean… I will be installing my custom manual rack hopefully soon (going into final design/production monday)… It’ll be solid… so no play at all… no bushings… It’ll be available for all but cost a pretty penny due to low numbers… i tried to run a group buy but 240 owners are too cheap… out of 40+ interested… only like 5 who paid lol… it seems most 240 owners are just group mentality and fear innovation unless its dirt cheap like shiny steering wheels and dildo shift knobs haha… The rack design offers also a drift specific rack… with more angle/steering speed something along those lines… for those that request it… any lock to lock, other specs… and optional column EPS which would be speed sensitive… I’m going just 2:1 manual rack and call it a day… can later do EPS if need be… Sorry to go off on a tangent but if you’re interested when it’s ready and I get it/review it… it’ll be available if you can afford it.
ahaha, well I was one of the guys interested in your little group buy endeavor, however they weren’t offering power steering racks at the time.
90% of the guys that track their cars on son, drift them, it has nothing to do with cheap.
But yeah, if the sikky drift car ain’t having problems, i gotta look into its setup.
Hinson parts were crap I had to modify most of them to fit…
the Hinson headers however were very nice…and good quality
no issues at all with steering shafts
some video from this summer…just before the fuel pump stopped working
YEAAAAA
ha i know the guy you were talking to at the line he has that really Badass White Fc, cant wait to see him turn up the boost on it
