So after a very long day and much deliberation over the asking price and costs on legal importation, I went out and bought a car I’ve always lusted over, a 1997 Acura Integra Type R. The car is beautiful and completely stock from the day it was built, aside from a great alarm/security system! It will be my new daily driver, and so far, I absolutely love the car. Here’s a couple teasers…

Wow!!! you are not kidding about how clean that looks. What happened to the s2k thoughts? Definitely a fan of this car and always will be. Great find.

That looks awesome… I can’t believe you’re going to daily such a minty R.

I know if you did that in the NYC area the car would last about 2 weeks before it went missing if it wasn’t garaged everywhere.

Thanks guys. As far as it being a daily driver, it’s a car. I bought it to use it and enjoy it. Anyone that knows me, knows I take great care of my cars, it will always be cleaned/washed/cared for. I mean, it’s been driven in some winters already, it’s not like its been concealed in a bubble the last 15 years. While it is VERY nice, it’s not a “show” car. As far as storage, it will be in a security system equipped garaged every night with cameras.

It really does look clean. What’s the import process like?

Either if you can do it yourself (tar + thick oil) spray the bottom and wells of the car for keeping the car in mint shape from the salty winters. If you cant, I know many dealers do it as well as Delta Sonic, which would be under coating. This will greatly extend the underneith of your car and any rusting that can happen. If you notice a good amount of rust under the car already, its pretty much useless, as you will find you are trapping it now behind.
