'76 cb360 cafe

well, project back from the dead. lots of changes happening this winter. on to the good stuff

removed my whole front end in preparation for a front end swap. sold the front end to luke for his 360 he acquired from his uncle.

very quick mock up of the new front end. inverted forks from a suzuki boulevard, cb350 four tank

fast forward to tonight.

front end buttoned up with new tapered bearings. mounted some dirt bike bars. Im still iffy on them, might do clip ons. idk yet. also mocking up mono shock set up. swing arm from a ninja 250, shock and linkage also from a ninja. wheels are just roller wheels for now. i want to do some wide spoke supermoto wheels.

shock in. nick acting like he’s doing work on the drill press

shock mounts, i plan to box them in for strength.

nicks fat ass test

next few things to be addressed are mounting of the tank. it will be up a bit in the back. and the rear portion of the frame will be chopped off and redone. i plan for it to swoop up a little bit and be a longer, due to the ninja swing arm being ~3" longer than stock. also need to fix the steering stop, i can use the stoppers on the lower triple, but the tab on the frame is too wide to have any sort of turing. more to come, stay tuned!

Looking good dude!!

Wow, nice progress. This looks like it will be very different than the last setup. I really liked the way it looked before tho  but I’m sure this will come out nice too.

pretty cool

damn you guys with your cb’s! I want a cb, not the kz
GL, will be watching

Thanks dude! This summer well all get out for a ride!

Just buy one already…

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/4228738471.html

Just no kick start but its cheap.

I talked to the guy about the one posted and he said since its a “custom”, parts are harder to come by and more expensive…plus I want a kick start

“custom” means nothing as far as parts being harder to come by on a cb650. guy is a moron. As far as kickstart is concerned…if you REALLY wanted kickstart on a cb650, you can use some parts from a cb550 and bore the hole where the lever goes into the right side case…it’s a lot of work though and not really worth it. Either way, that bike is RETARDED CHEAP.

Yup, Still fat. STUPID TEST

Fuck, I might just buy that bike for $400 lol

I took a few pics during the fab/mockup as well, here’s what I snapped:

Thanks buddy

did some messin around today with mounting the tank. the plan was to drop the front of the tank down about 1/2". i cut the old mounting tabs off. and drilled the hole where i planned to mount the new tabs. due to the difference in tunnel width of the 350 four tank to the frame, i made new tabs and holesawed out the old portion from the frame.

here is what was removed. it bumped out which was the issue.

mock up of the flatter version.

tacked both side pieces in with a piece of tube for alignment

ground the welds flush and then welded the new mount.

tank on, rear mount still to come.

heres how the rear sits with out the mount. still a touch too low. the second photo shows where id like it to sit.

^great idea!
I may do this with mine (cant stand the tank sitting up so high)

Thanks!
I’m calling around to get prices on lengths of 1"ODx.120"wall steel tubing to redo the subframe seat section. Cutting of the frame coming soon lol

so many frames being chopped up at the shop right now lol.

That’s the best part of workin on these things. Angle grinder and sledge hammer!

Think metal supermarket would have it? Lakeshore metals in lackawanna might as well.
