thank s for supporting Canadian economy Nate:D
I’ll personally go to US for a vacation and drive rustles one back home for $2G’s
I don’t care about the engine anyway.
well said.
I’d pay 8k for it if I had money coming out of my ass and it was in MINT condition. I’d buy it just to have such a “new” 240sx.
Lol. Show up at a meet like “Yeah, shes Mint”
…
“I paid $8k”
I’ve seen a red coupe with 28XXXkm, about 2 years ago in kitchener fairway Uhaul outdoor storage… I think Jedi was with me, or someone else
surprisingly, it didn’t look $5000 great…
240 4 lyfe, maybe when im 50 ill retire and get a minnnttt 350z from a barn for 15k
Jeff you have to check the car out first. Even if it does have 30k on the engine, the body could still have plenty of rust. All he had to do is drive it in one winter and that’s it…
Assuming that there’s really no rust and that it is in good condition, you could offer him around 5000 for it… I think that’s fair.
Just keep in mind that this is still an old car, and you’ll have to do pretty much everything you would have to do on any car that is 15+ years old. Suspension, brakes, bushings etc…
you can only insure it for $1500 or so… bear that in mind.
i wouldnt go into the $5k range… make in the $4k+ but even then i’d be iffy.
who cares how mint it is… i’ll take one in ‘great’ shape for $2k over one in ‘mint’ shape for $5k any day… seeing as how we drive them so retardedly and replace them so often.
i should have it back in the next couple days from a complete paint job… windshield removed, door trim removed… event getting where i rolled the fenders… it should be the cleanest 240sx out there soon.
Perfect opportunity to have your 240 sponsored by Mr Clean.
nate_drake has maybe the cleanest hatch around, and when he paid 8k that’s what they were worth but in the last two years every cars price has dropped a lot !
Guys, im not spending anywhere near 8k, but if i buy it and decide to sell it i want to know if ill be profiting from buying it at all. Im going to look at it today to see if it is actually in as good condition as specified, if it is. His asking price is more than reasonable from what you guys have all told me. If its not in showroom condition but its still in great shape his asking price is still more than reasonable. Ill let you all know how it goes and if i dont buy it ill post up some pics and contact info for the guy to help him out.
Just tell us how much he’s asking. Or are you planning on buying it and then flipping it for 2 - 3k more here?
Hence the “wondering” how much it’s worth. I’ll tell you that no one here will pay 5 - 6k for a stock 240, no matter the condition. People would much rather take a crappier s13 in the end with an SR. Sad but true.
buy that instead.
unless the price he gave you was like 2500.
if you’re gonna check it out today, get pics and post them up! i wanna see this thing.
Hot and Horny, makes bad car buying decisions
Fuck i paid 3500 for mine.
What the hell for!!! Nothing is factory any more…AT ALL! AND i had to put a gino into it to make it safe and reliable to drive at all.
Personally. For a MINT, I mean looks BRAND fucking new. All O.E.M shit, I would pay NO more then 5k. Seriously.
It’s a 240. Not a vette, chevelle, falcon, GNX, etc etc etc
Best of luck though!
Just got back from looking at it, all i can say is wow. This is a prime example of what a car with 31,000 km on it should look like. Ill be making a new thread with pictures included.
There was interest in flipping the car, but after seeing it in person and talking to the owner and checking it all out, this car will be kept as a collector. We (my father and I) are picking this car up on the weekend, maybe even getting the original bill of sale with it too. He asked us for $3,200 and we are paying him all of the asking price, it wouldn’t be fair to the old fella to offer him any less. If we do decide to flip it, it shouldn’t matter what i paid for it anyways as the condition of the car is what makes it what its worth, were getting lucky paying so little. Im pretty excited to get a new battery into it and take it to its new home in shanty bay to start cleaning it up. My father will be registering on here as a user soon now aswell since this will be his 240 and we will now both have one to take to shows etc, one mint original and one rusty modded one.
Thats not true at all, some companies will have you do an appraisal when you want collision + comprehensive, and the car will be insured for the value the appraiser gives it. I had it done for mine
^100% correct, my insurance company will not give me collision or fire and theft unless i have an appraisal done and then they will insure it for the value of the appraisal (they do this for any car over 15 years old with my company (TD))
Yea pretty much. The prices have dropped like crazy in the last 2 years. I couldn’t find a clean 240 for 5 thou then.
