im selling my car but a lot of people are telling me that it is not worth the price i put it for… $6000, that its too high, but why is this? to me an s14 and s15 are very rare to see on toronto streets so why should the value of them be so low? i think the price i put it for is a fair price, anyone who is selling an s14 or s15 are in the 5 figure ranges, i think we should value our cars for more than what they are. before i bought this car there were a lot of other 240’s that i’ve checked out, all were stock and all were selling for above 7g’s with close to 200 K on it, they were in good condition and private sales.
to all you people who dont appreciate 240’s get ur minds straight and stop hating cuz u dont got the money to pay for one.
Sure the price put up for those 240’s you saw were 7000, but I’m pretty sure none of them actually sold for that much.
Go ahead and sell your car for whatever you want to, the higher the price you put it for the less chance you are going to sell it.
i think we should value our cars for more than what they are
yeah thats because you are selling one and are trying to get money, it’d be a different story if you were wanting to buy one.
You dropped your price from 9000 to 6500 as soon as people said its not worth 9000. Since you clearly inflated the price a few grand, and can drop it that much as a whim, whats going to make people trust you that its actually worth 6500, 5900(whtever you have it for sale now), and you still arn’t inflating the price?
Your car is only worth what people will pay for it.
Sent pics of your car to me, I’ll pm you my address.
and to this
to all you people who dont appreciate 240’s get ur minds straight and stop hating cuz u dont got the money to pay for one.
Before you go ranting about how we dont apprieciate 240’s please remember where you are posting this… a 240 club. This club doesn’t exist to go on ‘hating’ 240’s. It actually exists to boost the moderators egos and for other people to go on ‘hating’ eachother.
only old a** cars sell for cheap prices with kms over 300. a 240sx is not known as a shit car … and im not saying people on this site done appreciate their 240’s im saying if you did appreciate it the value of a 240 in general would not be 3000. and i did not want to sell my car for 9000 i said that is how much it is worth, to me, at least maybe not to u but to me
and im not saying people on this site done appreciate their 240’s
this sentance
if you did appreciate it the value of a 240 in general would not be 3000
and this statements conflict with eachother.
we do appreciate the cars
we dont appreciate the cars (because if we did, we would ‘obviously pay more than what they are worth’)
Appreciation and the willingness to pay more for something don’t always mix. I appreciate a good movie, but I won’t pay 16$ to see it in a theater.
Unfortunatly you can’t really sell cars for what they are worth to you. Well you can try, but it probably wont sell. In order to sell a car quickly you need to price it in a range where prospective buyers would see it’s worth.
I totally understand your point of view, cause you love 240’s, and especially yours, you believe it is worth more than the ask price of the market. I, bought mine for $2,300, and it had 157,000 clicks on it and it was a peice of junk. BUt at the time, i was in love with 240’s, even the person sold me it was in loved with the car, but he turned to honda instead. But, i still went to look for one with a lower price tag, because “I” didn’t think that i should pay so much for a 15 yr old car, because its bound to hit a brick wall, like things falling apart, engine problems, frame rail rust…etc. Its these things people think about when buying an old car, they choose to buy a 240, knowing that there are problems along with the price tag. So, selling your car for over 7g’s is totally out of the price range for the age of the car. In good condition or not. If you have a really mint 240, and you do believe in the market, it could sell for over 7gs, then go ahead and sell it for that price, cause if someone, like a 240 lover like us, is looking for one with very little rust, low clicks, and your car fits his needs for a project car, then he will buy it. Problem is, thats 1 in a thousand. For people looking for a ok car, with some body rust …etc…and not worrying about the amount of kilometers driven, they would rather get a 240 for about 2000 - 4000. And thats what i would go for, anything more, it should be SR’d and full of mods…
just to let you know, you gotta know the market value of these cars, these aren’ts civics, accords or high end cars that holds most of their value. Thats why not a lot of 240’s are left, cause these things break down a lot.
THANK YOU, at least 2 people understand what i mean and where im coming from…and YES my car is MINT, no rust, no rust underbody, its a 96 . but im selling it for 6000 not 7. interior is good shape and i think it IS worth 6500…
YES I FEEL LIKE FKUCKKNIGN HEADBUTTING SOME OF THESE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE LIKE ZIDANE
i want people on SON to go on a friggin hunt…see if you can find a 96 240 with no rust with low km for less than 6500 – only then i will lower the price of my car.
iono i sorta agree… that the cars ‘should’ be worth more, but the market determines value.
the people in the market for 240sx gear are not the kind of guys with a $25,000 budget and thinking… damn… $7000 for a decent 240? that means i can spend $ X on parts…
instead, the guys in this market are saying… Damn $7k? i only have $1400 after 8 months of saving… i can get another $1000 from my dad since he is behind on his alamony and finance another $3k through the bank which is $5400 but i wanna buy super cheap parts from bing so maybe $4500 i’ll offer and see how that goes.
in the end, someone who has $7k to spend on your car is thinking… damn… i could finance another $10 and get a 02 celica or something like that…
even the guys competing in Drift Mania cant afford to buy stuff that most of us have on our cars.
there are a variety of things that the government has imposed to encourange people to buy new cars… emissions testing, safeties now required by insurance companies within 30 days on cars over a certain age etc. etc.
cliffs:
its actually a big hassle to buy a used car now.
the 240sx market is full of young guys with little to no $
profit - I’ll buy your car for $1000 cash and i’ll take it tonite…
Meh, I was prepared to sell my car and offer my neighbour $8500 for his S14 Zenki Auto. (I decided NOT to throw myself in massive debt, but that’s another story) Not sure how your car is, but his is in beyond mint shape, 114K on the odo, leather interior still mint (no cracks, no nothing), NEVER winter driven, perfect condition factory paint, etc…
I think the right car is worth the right amount of money, but people here don’t appreciate that.
Great, then sell it for that, and quit bitchin about how ppl wont immediatly buy your car for what you think it is worth.
Like I said before, if you want it gone right away you need to sell it for what potential buyers think it’s worth.
Do you always flip out when people dont agree with you?
You bump your forsale thread every day, its gonna get locked.
i bought mine for 7 gs last year… s14s sell for as low as 3gs auto to watever price u may imagine. in the end auto cars are harder to sell to the average buyer because it is a pain in the ass to locate all the correct parts for s14 5spd swaps for cheap … some ppl run s13 pedals and some other s13 parts… but hassle is a hassle no matter how u look at it…
to a car enthusiast if ur car is mint he will check it out and buy it instantly… take pics of the mintness of the underbody and fenders and convince ppl to at least take a drive towards ur house.
Alot of ppl may msg u and want a s14 but cant afford one since they are poor and have the mindset of i can buy a 2000$ s13 and 2000$ sr swap and still have money for rims before i culd purchase that s14… dont listen to them. just ignore them. patience is the key… and if u value ur 240sx so much then keep it to the grave…
If your car is so mint post some damn pictures. So people can actually see them. You think you are capable of that? Then they will see if theres no rust. I bought my rustless 96 s14 for $4300 and it had intake, exhaust, bodykit ect ect. Mine is auto which is why it was so low. The guy couldnt sell his for months so why would you be able to?
just because a small small handfull of idiots (us, myelf included) happen to love 240’s doesnt mean they are great cars. A great car doesnt rot from the inside out.
