951 winter progress

dude gold-leaf is baller*

coming along nicely, need a test driver to, err uhh, break her in?

Gold leaf is sick. So, I know you guys are like anti-autox but any chance I’ll see it out in the parking lots this summer?

Yeah, I usually run the Seneca Army Depot events, and I’ll probably hit a test and tune locally to play with some settings.

I’m not anti AutoX it’s just old hat now.

Got my splitter back from Josh (lafengas), all reinforced with carbon where it normally falls aparts and splits open.

The Kevlar will be your saving grace…i just used the CF to help absorb the excess epoxy since the shape wasn’t conducive for vacuum bagging…which would have been ideal.

Besides, now you can tell people that you have Ballistics Kevlar from Russia, which is illegal to posses in the U.S… great conversation starter.

 I thought that’s what the gold stuff looked like, but I didnt think you were going to use it! Haha, thanks Josh, and shoot me a PM with what I owe ya

yeah, there’s only 1 layer of CF on top and there’s 3 layers of Kevlar below.

Edit: it’s more of a puke color.

Well if thats the case then I want a ride lol. You can go for a super boring ride in the wrx if you want too

Sure, Do you want a sliding ride on street tires or a fast ride on hoosiers?

Ohh the choices…I’ll have to go with that one…

Thom it is “streetable”, but I certainly wouldnt call it a 100k mile engine. The only thing that really needs attention is the oil pickup every winter due to the lack of balance shafts. We’re probably going to construct a new one though which doesnt fall apart like the stock one without balance shafts.

how long is it gonna be NA… we <3 boost!!

Hopefully the new turbo engine will be on the engine dyno winter of '07/'08 getting broken in and tuned (depending on funding, of course). The NA engine, the new turbo engine, and the car will all be at the BlownEuroz Meet

There is a big relief. The head is just on there for the meet as I still need to send it out to get refreshed, but didnt want to put a rush on the guy who is doing the work for me. Have a bunch of stuff to button up tomorrow, bodywork, put the transaxle in, etc. But getting the block in is a huge step forward.

Good work!

Looking good I know who to call when I rebuild my motor ;). Also when you make the custom pickup I probably would be interest as a new oil pickup is better than a 20 year old one:) I will be hoping to have mine out mid to late april and trying to put down some big tq numbers as me and Jim have been planning :snky:

Haha yeah, Jim is pretty evil.

looks nice. you almost have enough engine stands, as tires…

Sadly, they were all full a couple weeks ago :frowning:

And most of the tires are in storage or the basement
