not quite sure yet.
have to do some more research on it
thanks mindless
like i said the block guard and mains wont help you at all, just trying to help ya out
t3/to4e 60 trim is a great turbo if thats what you have, if not the 57 trim is still a great street turbo and will get you 400whp no problem on pump gas
get the 300-400whp and see what you can do, most people/cars can’t put that down efficiently, anything under 2,500 lbs will run mid/low 11’s with 400whp and outrun ALOT of cars on the street
for budget build the obx rules (i’m still in college but i def have bad priorities as my car is one of my first)
if you have the cash quaife or wavetrac can’t be beat
i personally have a carbonetics clutch type lsd because its what came in my gsr trans
to get best performance/overall drivability most fun id recommend a gsr transmission, good luck again
good looking build, your def doing it the right way asking for opinions/advice
so i need some input on what kind of turbo i should run
any ideas?
How much power you want to make? Do you want quicker spool or more boost?
explain your power goals, what you will use it for, when you want full spool, and most importantly how much you want to spend and we can help ya out there
i want to make around 475-500whp when its all said and done. (with practice driving under lower boost settings of course)
it will be a street/strip setup.
i am doing what mindless said and run a bigger turbo but less boost, just dont know what trim to run.
not sure how much i wanna spend yet. just looking to get ideas.
475-500 on race gas?, 475-500 on pump will take a very very efficient motor/good sized turbo
for a cheap all around good turbo the t3t04e 60 trim with stage 5 wheel and .63ar is great or if you want more top end you can get it with a .82ar
that would be good for 400 on pump
sc61 is a bit bigger but will put out more power with more lag of course and is a little bit more
then there are the gt series ($$$$)
3076r is great and would get you close to your goals on pump gas with awesome spool
3582r is a bit bigger and will get you there with less boost and more lag
also bw turbo are great, s258 would suite your needs but are about same price as the garret
i have similar goals, but i want near 500whp on pump gas, i also have a 2.0L with built head etc etc and as of now im going with the 30r as its one of the best “street” turbos you can buy

but then someone mentioned run a bigger turbo and less boost to make the same HP numbers.
i originally wanted to put the garrett t3t4 .63 trim on and run like 18-20lbs.
good idea?
thanks man, this is the exact info i was lookin for.
i still think you should shoot for 300whp
as ive said before, im not going straight to the 450-500hp mark
im starting low and working up from there.
ill proly start at 350 ish and work up from there.
i just want to find a turbo that has the potential to get up to the 450-500hp mark
start at 250 and in a year go to 300-325 …
You do realize that that much power will be completely useless on the street right. The best year i had with my car was at 300whp. Fast, easy to hold on to, beat the piss out of it all day with no problems. Plus it was cheap to do. Once you start making big power everything becomes a chore. You will start shitting trannys clutch is going to be so stiff you wont want to drive the car and you will be burning up tires fast. Just something to think about since you are so budget minded.
bill he will not listen … i gave up
thanks bill
most likely, im going to keep it around 400 whp next year.
im taking all replies into consideration.
i have alot of thinking and planning to do.
i do listen, but i dont respond.
Hollyy fuckk. Talk about baby steps. I don’t think he has to go that extreme…He drove my 400hp honda np and that was the 1st time he had ever driven a car with that much power. And that was also with out lsd…
Id say start at around 300 minimum, and no more than 400 tops just because it is going to be EXTREMELY lighter than my car is… Then work your way up from there. At 300wheel it will prolly feel almost like mine at 400.
But i do agree with bill. 400-500 Is A TUN of power for the street. Specially in a light civic.
