LoL, that was a pretty good thread actually. The rates of change of CG vs. roll center is a valid point, but not quite as valid as some people think. The issue with that is, it’s not the whole story, there’s more to it than that. Your suspension is a linkage, so when you change one length in it, you change the angles of everything else, and the motion of the entire linkage. Your camber curves become different for one, and a couple of other things that I do not know enough about to discuss. Yea, I DON’T know enough to discuss. But apparently Ahmed, with zero educational/technical/practical knowledge and experience does.
I realize a lot of people here think I’m cocky and talk shit because I’m an Engineer, and I’ve been to the track all of like… 3-4 times lol. I usually try to restrict my shit talking to topics that I know something about though. This is what annoys me about Ahmed, he has no credentials whatsoever, but finds it necessary to spread bad information to new members. When I asked for the admins to prevent him from posting in technical, that wasn’t some kind of childish SON diss at him, that was a serious request, based on what I think would be good for the forum. Ahmed continues to post on technical issues after many of the admin staff have directly asked him not to.

You know, I wasn’t too heavily involved in this site until I got my first 240 home, but I’m slowly learning about every little detail. The one thing I was seriously trying to learn about was suspension (I’m planning to do a susp. upgrade next summer) and i wanted to do research and make sure of what I was doing. Soulitude warned me about ahmed, but now I’ve seen it first hand (several times). It was such a decent thread until Ahmed decided to turn a simple comment by GT into some sort of pseudo personal attack.

One thing I can’t stand about Ahmed is that all his posts are pretty much the same. If you look at them, they are all the same.

A stock 240 rolls LESS than my lowered car i can confirm that (because its fucken obvious because guess what if the theory is true then… SO IS THE EFFECT IN REAL LIFE and you’re full of shit).
Mine is lowered 1.5", and the kyb dampners can be adjusted to different valving (albeit shitty adjustments as its not dual), and kyb states that one of the settings is the same as stock dampening. WHEN set to that, it ROLLS more than a stock 240. SAME hicas sways, in fact mine has polyurethane sway bushings and on everything else (at the time when i drove it). No other mods. It rolled ALOT more than mine had with same dampening as per KYB but with 1.5" lowered springs. So I had to up the dampening, and that’s still with 1kg+ stiffer springs (if i recall the stock se ones were 2kg~ or something the stechs ones are 3kg~ but progressive so thats not exactly accurate but hey). That’s on a 1.5 drop.
Now 3-4" that’s seriously messed up. That’s bad advice? YOU ARE full of bs. I am saying the right thing, while you’re saying oh its unecessary and for a track car. EVERYTHING RIGHT seems to be for a track car!? Well I’ll do it because I rathre have a ‘right’ car, than have many other new sports cars handle better and feel better than mine. Just so you know, a Taurus with good compound tires will grip alot better than u think and so will it outbrake a stock pos 240. It’s just that whoever owns one tends to run the cheapest canadian tire all season tires and monroe pos pads and rotors. I was actually contemplating one day taking it to the track i kid you not.
It’s faster in a straight line than a stock 240 BELIEVE IT OR NOT, its not noisy like a 240 BELIEVE IT OR NOT, it can without speed limiter go to 230-240km/hr with minor mods, while a stock 240 can only 210km/hr BELIEVE IT OR NOT and honestly… i took it on a sharp private track (lol so you dont give me shit) long curvy bend at 120km/hr and it still had some left in it… it felt too scary in a taurus as im used to my 240 being more responsive and being able to countersteer and power over steer if anything goes poopoo, but this is a fwd car, the steering wheel did not jig however what so ever, it was so smooth and just gripping and gripping, not a single bumpsteer obviously as the suspension is straight no problem. This was a taurus with a duratec 3.0liter and gs-d3 225/50/zr16 tires. NO MODS. My 240 at 120km/hr in the same bend felt at the limit scary with bumpsteer… and it started sliding too much into a drift and not grip which was too dangerous on a regular road to play with, regardless of anyone around or not and obviously could not be pushed more… Funny now you’re going to say my taurus can handle better than my car too, well are you, lol. My car’s rear tires are worn though and theres too much bumpsteer that i want to… drumroll fix.
Seriously a saturn with 225/45/16 or 215/50/16 r compounds will outhandle pretty much anything on here or most other 240 forums. Does that ALSO sound implausible and funny and stupid out of me? With dampners and sways from a gen 3 SHO it should do quite well actually with good tires. The 240 obviously i will take to the track next summer. When it was so mega cool that if you didn’t have it you were well so uncoool, having digital climate control, jdm used junkyard parts, coilovers, rims, etc… and of course hard parking a term i only learned recently on son240 as thats exactly what everyone did to show off. I only came to two car meets, not worth it.

Also, on the issue of brakes, which you brought up in a previous post on this page, why on earth do you need upgraded brakes on a dily driven car? What’s wrong with the stock brakes (which were engineered by the all-mighty Nissan engineers) when stopping at a red light doing 60, or stopping for the old lady crossing the street etc.
Finally, go buy a Taurus if you praise them so much. You could buy 6 from parting out your suspension alone.
